Dexter trotted across the hardwood floors of his humans' house, clicking his way into the living room.
AFF-OOOO!
Dexter sprang into the air before bolting-the part that would fit of-himself behind the couch. This did not include his rump, which shook timidly as he backed out to check what the noise was.
His pointed ears twitched furiously as he heard a rustling chh-chh-chh and a
clinkety-clink!"Hello?" he barked abrasively, pausing his way towards the mysterious sounds.
"Dexter?" Dexter sniffed, feeling his cheeks puff in foolishness.
"Indie, what's wrong with you? Why are you making such sounds?" Dexter felt his shortened nub-of-a tail point to the sky in frustration, as he glared at his furry orphan brother.
"Oh. Sorry Dexter. I was just-" Indie whined before abruptly ending his sentence, spreading his paws out like a star.
Dexter tilted his head, watching his 'pal' begin to quiver. He sat in confusion, waiting for him to finish. After a few moments, Indie began awkwardly rubbing his snout against the carpet. His fur looked sweaty and on edge, and a startled expression stained his face.
"Indie? What's wrong with you?" Dexter growled, but inside his chest hummed with concern.
Indie repeatedly scratched his face against the carpet and began growling. His back paws began to push against the floor, propelling him onward like a fuzzy freight train.
"This isn't funny." Dexter straightened himself, worry building up his throat like he swallowed yesterday's poop.
Yet Indie did not stop. He didn't even pause.
"Indie!" Dexter barked in his friend's ear, snapping gently at his blonde muzzle.
Indie finally straightened himself, before a huge sneeze rattled Dexter's
ears. His eyes widened as he covered his scruffy dark snout, realizing it was a little more than just a sneeze."Ewww!" Dexter growled, puffing air out of his nose in attempts to escape the smell. Meanwhile, Indie lay on his back from the force coming from both ends.
After a while, Indie sat up, his tail wagging in embarrassment.
"Uh. Excuse me." Indie giggled quietly behind his red cheeks, his tongue lolling like normal again.
"You imbecile." Dexter growled, barely keeping together his face to keep from laughing.
Indie whined, looking down innocently, before looking at Dexter with curiosity.
"What?" Dexter snapped in a scolding tone, finally able to stand straight from his little brother's snootz. (Sneeze toot.)
Indie tackled his furry big brother, licking his face joyfully.
"You were worried about me!" he teased, before sitting on Dexter's squirming body.
"I DID NOT- AGH! GET- OFF! YOUR BABY FAT IS CRUSHING ME!"
"Woo! I nearly died there!" Indie joked, his tail wagging and slapping Dexter in the face.
Humphf. That was all Dexter could manage to protest, before shoving Indie off and sitting up.
Indie apologetically leaned into Dexter who quickly stood away from the potato-shaped canine.
"It's alright." Dexter snorted, and his shoulders shook slightly as he began laughing.
Indie looked up to Dexter and began giggling as well.
"That was impressive!" Dexter barked, his tail wagging in fuzzy glory. Indie barked.
"I'll tell you, that hurt." Indie rubbed his chocolate nose, raw from rubbing against the carpet.
"I'll bet." Dexter giggled as they both raced to chase the most dreadful thing they lived with...
Zacchaeus the cat.
