I watch as our great leader, President Snow, steps up onto the podium to announce the theme for the 1000th hunger games. I can't wait to find out. The celebrations have already begun here in the capital! The crowd around me hushes immediately as he begins to speak.

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the opening ceremony for the 1000th hunger games! As you know, this year we will be celebrating the 1st millennium of the hunger games, marking 1000 years since we defeated the rebels and eliminated district 13! So moving on to the most exciting part of course apart from the games themselves, I shall now be announcing the theme for this years games!

A man dressed in white robes carries a small wooden box and hands it to the president. The president opens the box and pulls out an envelope marked '1000'

"Every 25 years, we celebrate a special hunger games, known as a quarter quell. This being the first millennium, tenth decade and fortieth quell, we celebrate it with a very special hunger games! This year to show the districts, that only the strongest may survive and in memory of the lost district 13, we will be holding 13 different games, 12 mini games and then one finale game! And we have also decided to lower the age limit on tributes to age 10! Every eligible tribute will be placed in the reaping ball twice! The 12 mini games will be held between the districts with 12 girls and 12 boys in each game. For the first time ever, we are letting two tributes per mini game survive and move onto the finale game, but there will only be one winner of the finale game. The reapings will happen on the 1st of every month! the games will commence on the 10th and end when we have two victors. The finale game will commence on the 1st of January and end when we have our single victor! I want to warn tributes that if they even think of pulling the double suicide- no victor trick, that there will be no victor.. Well happy hunger games and may the odds be ever in your favour!"

Chloe-May Johnson's POV

OMG... 24 per district... There are gasps from people all around me. They can't do this! That's so many deaths.. And they've lowered the age limit to 10! Omg.. Lucy!!!! She was right! I look over at her and see the tears running down her face..

"Lucy it's ok! You will be ok!" I pull her into a hug "look chick, I will volunteer for you if need be!"

"No!" Says Anya "I'm oldest, I will volunteer for both of you!"

We all hug each other for a minute..

I'm dreading the reapings...
