"What are you all staring at?" I asked rudely to get the attention away from what had just
happened.
Nevertheless, what had just happened?
Troye Sivan got upset and ran out.
Yes, but why?
I decided to cut my lesson short, volleyball surprisingly did not seem as appealing anymore. Avoiding everyone's eyes, I snuck out as best as I could and slipped into the wardrobe to change. I still had loads of homework to do; I might as well do something useful if I am skipping school. However, my plans quickly changed as I heard sniffing coming from the shower.
Reluctant to peek in case he was naked and wanted privacy, I quickly cut the corner, only to find Troye Sivan sitting fully clothed under the shower. He was drenched.
"Hey," I said softly not to startle him. I guess I did not work according to plan, because he flinched and his eyes sprung up to see how the intruder was. Troye Sivan relaxed slightly when he saw that it was I. "How are you feeling?"
"How does it look like I'm feeling," He answered. That surprised me. I thought he was going to reject me and say "fine" or "good".
"Do you want my honest opinion?"
"Yes,"
"You look like shit," I said simply, shrugging once before I walked over and sat down next to him, although I made a point by keeping some distance between us. The water instantly soaked me, but I could not find myself to care, I was going to take a shower and change anyway.
Much to my disbelief, Troye Sivan actually laughed at that. Not hard and long, but at least a couple of snorts and a shy smile.
"Well thanks," He said. "I do value honesty at times."
"I'm sorry," I whispered.
"What fore," Troye simply questioned back.
"I don't know, approaching you like that?"
Troye did not reply to that. We sat in silence until I could not take it anymore.
"Soo, what do you think?"
"About what?"
"This school, is it different from your last one?"
"I've never been to a school before," Troye busted out. The way his eyes widened and his hand automatically flung over his mouth alerted me.
"What?" I said stunned. "But my friend told me you're on top of a class you haven't even attended."
Troye sighed, and reached up to smooth a handful of soaked curls away from his forehead. He had a birthmark on his cheek.
"I taught myself," He said finally.
"You mean you got home-schooled? Your parents taught you?" I asked curiously. This turned out to be quite some conversation contrary to the cold shoulder I had expected.
"Yeah, sure," He replied. His voice were now lacking emotion. "I guess you could say that."
The water pouring over me made me shiver. It had turned quite cold and I fought an inner battle. Did I want to leave this conversation or were I willing to suffer some more.
Why was that even a question? Why was I sitting drenched at the floor in the schools shower, chatting with a new boy who was equally as drenched, with wet curls sticking to his skin and drops of water resting on his eyelashes.
