Hyi!

This is a simple tutorial to help you learn how to use texture, how to use mode, how to use cover, how to use guides, how to rotate an image horizontally, what those green arrows do at the bottom and how to create a file If psd exports in GIMP.

These are some tools you will need/be useful in GIMP. This is a series on this account in the tutorial book. =)

This tutorial has been made possible by Skareh.

We'll start with the tutorial, grab gimp (or read it first) and follow this tutorial!

Go to file in the menu and then on new. Use the Wattpad cover size.

Choose the A in Tools and enter your title. (I used: cinzel decorative, 80 pt) Type in your author and possibly subtitle.

Even the quick steps for the guides: Picture -> Guides -> New Guide -> Vertical 256. Then again to guides -> New Guide -> Horizontal 400.

Select the background as a layer (which will turn blue).

Go to File in Menu -> Open as Layers -> Choose Textured Layers and Repeat All At Once.

Click all the textures now by clicking on the eye.

Now go all 1 by 1 along and see what you think of your cover as a background.

Put it down so you'll find it in the cover (use scales, etc.), it does not matter if your text is readable or not -> ignore that, we'll fix that later!

(What I've done: a layer chosen, made to 512 at 800, scaled at -90 (90 can be beautiful also depends on which one you feel more beautiful that time), then I duplicated him and turned him horizontally (low - > Transforms -> turn horizontally) and put the layer over. That's all)

Slide both layers down, just above the black background layer (use those green arrows, there they are)

Now look for a texture that you can use as a kind of texture highlight. (Do you see multiple? First, choose one we will use now)

Scale him and rotate him with -90 or 90 degrees. Just choose lighter as mode. See you already a difference? A little difference is already beginning!

Play now with the cover (how visible it will be)

Do you have the idea that one side is darker and you do not want it? Grab another layer and do the same with the cover! The only difference is that you have to turn it horizontally.

Open the black and white layer that I linked below via open as layers and set the mode on screen. Click the green arrow to get him as the top layer.

Put him in the right size and play with the cover, make sure it is not too bright - it does not look pretty often. It must be a subtle layer. (This helps especially if you have a person: use it over it and it seems a lot better!)

This is optional. Whether you make the text black or white, just looks better or you use the text-edited text from the previous chapter. Sometimes you have to play with the big of something.

Do you want to save it as .psd? Go to export -> type psd and save. Then you can open it in (amongst others) photoshop!

Do not forget to remove the lines again unless it is meant that those in a psd also occur XD (seriously, I had that, I opened him in photoshop ^^)

This tutorial can also be used in other programs.

Normally I do more with the texture, etc., is on the cover, but I kept this one because I was pleased with it - otherwise, the tutorial would not be understandable anymore!
