The town of Fengye was very strange, indeed. Houses close by the town square were as big as mansions. Those were where the rich, high-class people lived. But on the other side of town, there was a small village that goes by the name of Xiyang, where there were small, poorly-built huts. This, obviously, was where the population of poor people lived.

There was rumoured to be a castle thousands of miles away from the town of Fengye. In the castle, lived a Queen and her daughters. The people of Fengye and Xiyang both believed the rumour was true, because every Spring, a princess from the castle would come to the town, and settle in a family's residence. She would stay until the end of Summer, then leave the town. In this period of time, the family chosen would try their hardest to please the princess, and she would give them a reward (money) before she leaves.

Xiyang would always get bad ratings, because of the poor, dirty environment there, so they would not only not receive any rewards, they may also be in a lot of debt.

Yiming was born into a family of 12 children, 11 boys and 1 girl, him being the seventh. When he was only a baby, a deadly disease came around, killing all except for himself and his youngest and only sister, Yiyuan. But in the winter of year he turned 7, his father and 3 year old Yiyuan went missing, and in Spring of the next year, his father's body was found in the Silver Star Lake. To this day, Yiming does not know if his sister is alive or not.

Just the year before, Yiming's mother had passed away due to a fever, so now Yiming lives with his aunt, who is actually considered rich in Xiyang. He remembers how his mother worked for fifteen hours a day, for nine months straight, just to earn enough money for Yiming to go to school.

At school, he was a bright student, very hard-working, and getting the highest grades Qinshao Academy had ever seen for fifty years.

Rich, snobby kids bully and make fun of him at school because he was born in a poor family. Xinyue was the only person who stood up for him on his first day at Qinshao Academy. From then on, they became blossom friends.
