A loud roar raced through the skies above as I walk out side. "Mother are you out here!" I shout to the yard. An old women comes walking back with hair faded gray, and eyes as blue as night. "Mom I told you I was going to take care of the garden" I say helping my mom into the house.
"Oh Karter do not worry so much about me, worry about what you are going to do with you're life." she tell's me. Tsk is my only response. I walk to the kitchen to start dinner and mom gose to set the table. I have not told her my plan, she'd be pissed. "Come on Karter you must have some idea" she pries. I take a deep breath in," I am going to look for father" I tell her and close my eyes. "Deary you know he left us it will just be a waste of you're time" she response quietly. " But mom I want to know who he is" I counter, as I set diner on the wooden table and sit down. " It doesn't matter who he is all that does matter is that he is not here." Mom said. " It might not matter to you, but you knew him, who he was. It is unfair that you don't even want me to find him!" I said my voice slowly rising.
" That is not unfair, that is my choice. And besides what information do you have to go on?" She said and served herself some food, I did the same. "You remeber when I was about 6-7 years old and you found me in the attic, you brought me down immediately and told me it was dangerous. I didn't leave without finding dads old journal" I say with a smirk of victory. "Karter give me the journal" she says an edge slipping into her voice. "What! Hell no." I yelled. "Karter I mean it give me the journal or by god so help me!" Mother yelled this at me. My voice went lower as I spoke, "hell no," then came some sorta growl, that never happened before. Mom's face told me nothing when I looked, but when I looked into her eyes it was a give away. They said she was scared, fearful of what just happened. "Go to you're room!" She said quietly. " I didn't even do anything!" I responded with my voice raised. "I said go to your room, I mean it Karter!"' She yelled that time. I got up form the diner table and went to my room.
