a few days had passed.
tyler continuously glanced at the girl in his sister's bedroom multiple times.
she was pretty. mysterious, as well.
but tyler's stubborn personality had always cautioned him from speaking to this girl. he constantly considered kicking her out, but the other side of him took over and he knew he couldn't do that to a teenager.
they looked about the same age. maybe tyler was a little older. but either way, they sure weren't friends yet.
they were very distant... until today.
tyler awoke from bed and smelled something... paint..? his eyebrows furrowed, and he stood out of bed and opened his door to reveal a cracked door across the hallway.
the scent grew stronger as tyler inched towards her room, his sister's.
and when he opened her door completely, the sight before him shocked him to the core.
her once pink room was now a shade of red.
his eyes widened more than you think was possible, and he dropped his phone on the floor with a loud thump.
the young girl was standing there, staring at him with a blank expression. then, she grinned and asked, "you like it?"
but he was far too filled with rage to even begin with a small sentence. the veins in his forehead and arms were protruding now, his anger and tears overflowing his brain's consciousness.
it was all too much that he couldn't even speak.
he left the room, trailed back to his, and slammed the door.
///
tyler's dad came home from work very late that night. he set his keys down on the counter and yawned from the long shift, walking upstairs to head to bed.
but an odor quickly reached his nose, and that was when he realized small dots of... red... on the floor.
"tyler?..." he called out, thinking his son was hurt. but no answer.
he walked up the rest of the stairs and all of a sudden jumped, seeing his daughter's door open and a new color painted on her wall.
"TYLER?!" he screamed now, racing inside her room and noticing the messy paint not yet dry. he stormed into tyler's room now, not caring if he was asleep. "WHAT DID YOU DO??"
tyler woke up quickly, shaking when he noticed his dad's furious expression. "d-dad, i didn't do that. i swear!!!"
"oh, so someone magically came into our house and painted her room, for no reason at all?!" he yelled louder, fists clenched.
tyler gulped as his dad continued, "i can't believe you, tyler!! why are you lying to me??"
"i didn-" he choked up saying, tears forming in his eyes.
that's when he noticed red paint on his hands and a paintbrush in the corner of his room. he knew it looked like his fault now, thinking maybe the girl did it on purpose.
"i-i'm sorry." was all he could say.
but now his dad was crying now, still angry but extremely upset. "i told you to leave her room alone, tyler." he sobbed. "my babies are gone and i can't even manage to keep you out of their rooms."
he left, crying harder than tyler's ever seen.
