My pen tapped against my desk. I sat in my 6th block awaiting for the final bell to ring. I had a plan. Right as the bell would ring I would leave. I wouldn't look back. I planned for this to be my final day in this school. In this town. In this life.

I was excited to leave. I couldn't stop smiling the entire day. My stuff was in my trunk. My money was in my backpack. My eyes wandered across the room. Connor sat in the front diagonal from me. His head rested in his hand. His pencil scribbled the notes I was supposed to be taking.

I had waited until today. Friday. I needed another week with Connor. But it also made it worse. Every time he mentioned something about the future, I would get an overwhelming feeling. I would want to burst into tears. The feeling of guilt would wash over me.

My eyes flashed up to the clock above that projected Geometry notes. One minute left. I closed my eyes. A single deep breathe was taken before the loud bell rang. I shoved my books into my bag. As soon as my feet hit the hallway floors, I sprinted. It was the fastest I have ever ran. I didn't look back. I was out of this hell.

The sun hit my face. Fresh air. Other kids crowded around the front of the school and the parking lot. I jogged down the front stairs to the parking lot to my car. The small unlock button clicked. It beeped letting me know that I wasn't almost to freedom.

"Ash!" his voice yelled over the noise of other conversations. My eyes squeezed shut and my hands went to my face. So close.

"yeah Con?" I was a bit harsh, but I was almost gone. Almost.

"I have practice and you are coming with." He held onto his brown satchel that he used as a bak pack and rocked on his heels. I lifted my hand to gesture for him to get in.

I drove. Unfortunately not out of this stupid town.
