-Earlier-

"He broke free!" The shouts and various alarmed noises and words they were spurting just grew muffled like background noise as I focused on my task.. to get Y/N somewhere safe.. before it was too late.

I figured the pounding in my chest must be my heart thumping against my ribcage so fast it made me afraid that I might collapse on the spot.

I grabbed hold of Y/N's arm, pulling her out of the restraints with a rush of adrenaline, before swooping her up and running at full speed.

I can't teleport back home.. It would go beyond the limits of what this body can take at once.. so I just ran, and ran until the footsteps thundering behind me faded into nothing.

The bark was crunching under my shoes with every step, and the bits of loose branches smacking against my legs and face every now and again, but the momentum in my legs were too much.

Too much to stop, to even pause in this for a mere second. "Y/N? Y/N answer me sweetheart come on, I'm here now.." I spoke softly to her limped frame, her eyes shut lightly, and her breathing shallow.

If it were any other situation, I would stare at her for ages, just to intake just how damn beautiful she was. Everything about her was stunning to me, and I was going to protect it. I was going to protect Her.

Someone like me didn't deserve someone like her. I still don't. I still to this day cannot fathom why on earth such an angel would become so intertwined with a demon like me. (He's not a demon guys, I wanted to be deep)

My heart ached as I stared down at her. I would change this, I'd change our consequences. Defy anyone that tries to come between us, and even if it put my head on a spike, It would be worth it. Every second, every moment.

Jesus Christ I sound like an old-timey knight or something. MY DAMSEL IN DISTRESS, I WILL- You know what this probably isn't the correct time.

"Fell!" I heard a voice, making my head almost instantly snap upwards towards that voice laced with concern and worry.

The moon illuminated the surroundings, trailing off the trees and spreading its way across the grass, the cool air brushing my already messed hair across my face, creating just a mere momentary distraction, until I forced it back with just a simple flick of my head.

"Take her. Make sure she's safe." I almost demanded, handing Y/N's limp body over to the shorter, limping boy.

I would have felt worse about handing her over to somebody already injured and almost ordering them to keep watch over her, if I weren't so fucking enraged. Who the fuck do those guys think they are, and why her?

It didn't matter, I would end it, all of it. I gave a small nod to the boy, who's hair was as pale as his skin surely turned at my words. "You're not going after them, are you? You're hurt!" He exclaimed, motioning to the various scratches along my skin. Huh, I didn't even notice those. I bet I surely will after this adrenaline dies down, though..

"It's nothing. I'll be back soon." That earned me a glare, his fingers tightening around the soft fabric of Y/N's shirt. "And if you're not? What will I tell Y/N? She would be crushed"

"Look kid, just shut it and do what I say!" Fuck, I didn't mean to bark that out at the poor kid, I felt guilty the moment I saw him flinch back at my tone. I could've sworn my eye even flared for a moment there.

"Asshole.." He mumbled, through gritted teeth. Yeah that's me, what of it? I didn't say that though, I just gave a small scoff, turning, and taking off, back into where I emerged just moments ago.

My footsteps repeated themselves, seeming to reverse back into the forest, the path unchanged, from the broken sticks to the crumpled leaves and snapped branches, it wound on and on like a broken clock, and my steps only seemed to cause more damage to the once clear, unsuspecting pathway. Sorry about that.

Something was wrong.. this path, seemed to be winding on for longer and longer, and I could have sworn I was running in a straight line but-

Wait, was I? Yeah I had to be, my feet have been too busy moving to change direction, my brain too distracted to even think about it. So why.. why did these trees look the same? Why were things already out of place if I didn't stray from the direction?

Just when I thought my legs might have given out, when my lungs were threatening to break and force me crumpling to my knees for oxygen, and my vision had decided to blur from the repetitive nature around me, I ran into a clearing, the clearing.

I didn't see it ahead, and the side of my body smacked into the tree once I ran into the big, familiar area. I fell to the ground, clutching at my chest as I took in oxygen, lungs beginning to punish me at the first sign of rest, sharp coughs forcing their way from my throat as the three of them stood by, snickering at the sight.

I know what they were doing, they were trying to get me just that inch away from cracking, and then providing too little relief just as you think it'll never end. So knowing this, I grasped at the tree, forcing myself to my knees once more.

"You-.. You let us escape." She raised an eyebrow at my words, but the smirk didn't fade, nor falter from her lips. "I did, now? Care to explain?"

What was this, 20 questions? Fuck that. I sauntered over, grabbing her by the collar and yanking her forward, before then throwing her back, but instead of making contact with the tree like I had wanted, she just simply teleported back into place. This felt odd.

Fuck, it was all so confusing, like a dream. But it was too real to be a dream, too.. vivid, harsh. No, even my nightmares weren't like this, because at least those you could escape. The ropes from earlier were gone. And the mess.. nowhere to be seen, no evidence of a struggle of any sort, and they looked completely calm.  "No, I don't. So I'll just let you do the honors."

"What a shame.. nice, dominant men are quite enticing, and you were doing so well.." I scowled. Wow, what was this sudden urge to recoil back in disgust?  Actually, don't answer that.

"Why didn't you stop us." I asked, so blunt that it might not even be allowed to be named as  a question.

I really wasn't in the mood for her shit, or her playful stare as she dragged the bottoms, to the tips of her long, painted nails across my jaw, just building up my anger so the next thing she said could be twice as effective.
