Prologue

"Get down now!!" Kay'Ladria's and Armani's father yelled grabbing his gun.

Kay'Ladria was almost hit in between the crossfire, going on in the middle of her living room.

Just in time before the bullet hit Kay'Ladria's mother, Jayla jumped in front her.

The bullet when straight into her chest. At that moment everything froze for Kay'Ladria.

She was thinking a mile a minute and she was thinking that could have been her.

She looked down at her mothers lifeless body, she could see her mother struggling to breath.

She dropped down to her mothers side shaking her. "Ma, get up!" Kay'Ladria yelled shaking her mothers body violently.

Another bullet went off causing her to look at her father.

She seen as her fathers body dropped to the ground. She could hear her sister yelling and crying.

A few minutes they heard a car speed away.

She looked at her mothers body one last time crawling over to her fathers.

"Daddy, you can't leave me get up!" She yelled as her and her sister shook his body.

She could no longer feel his heartbeat which broke her heart even more.

Her sister just stayed there shaking his body screaming and crying.

She drapped her arms around her neck hugging her. She knew at this moment all she had was her sister.

There wasn't nobody else she considered family.

She didn't have family like everybody else. It was only her and her sister.

There was no longer her happy family.

At the age 11 years old Kay'Ladria and her 12 year old sister Armani was all alone.

The police showed up at the scene and could care less about what happened.

It was just another black couple shot and dead.

They where only worried about keeping there jobs.

Without asking any questions even about what there names were.

Immediately put on a flight to Detroit, to there grandmother whom they've never met.

They where only 11, and 12 and already felt more alone then ever.

Pulling up to the house the social worker walked to the door.

Armani looked at her little sister who've had the same face since her parents passed away.

As they approached the door the social worker noticed the stale emotionless look Kay'Ladria wore.

"You wanna know something sweetheart, no matter what happened there always in here."

She said looking at Kay'Ladria touching where Kay'Ladria's heart was located.

"I'll be happy when you move your hand." Kay'Ladria said solemnly slapping her hand away.

The social worker just smiling not having any hard feelings towards her.

She knew what it felt like to lose both her parents and she knew everybody grieved differently.
