I watched my fan blades spin in their peaceful circle as I laid in my bed the day after my date with Matt. The breeze felt good against my flushed face as I replayed the night over and over again. The way he looked at me. The way his thumb gracefully rubbed my hand. The way he said, "You have stars in your eyes" all made my skin tingle. The name "Matt" seemed like such a peaceful name for such an amazing guy. He soothes me like how that first sip of warm tea soothes you on a wintery day. His voice, his hands, his eyes, his smile. Just him in general. All of these aspects make my heart throb and my face sore from smiling.
I finally roll onto my side and grab my phone. I went to my messages and opened a new text.
Hey! Hope your day is going pretty well! I had an amazing time last night, thank you for taking me out :)
I hit send and rolled back onto my back and stared at my fan. I closed my eyes and imagined the electricity I felt when our hands touched. I know that seems cheesy, but it's true. I never believed that stuff they said in movies, but feeling it first hand was incredible.
I sit up in bed and grab the boot for my foot, put it on, and hobbled out of bed and to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror as I brushed my teeth, I analyzed my eyes trying to see if the stars that Matt saw are visible. After failing to see the stars, I finished getting ready and went to my room and changed. Walking back to my phone, I saw a new message from Matt saying:
Hey beautiful how did you sleep? and my day just got a lot better after you text me! thanks again for going with me, I had a great time! maybe we can do something Saturday like watch a movie at my place??
A smile burst to my face as the thought of hanging out at Matt's house popped into my head.
I would love to watch a movie! Just let me know when :) I replied and then walked downstairs to grab breakfast.
The rest of the day was a blur. Most of it was spent at the new house taking painters tape off the walls and moving stuff around. The process took longer than it should have only because I was busy texting Matt about everything and anything. We finalized our plans for Saturday with watching a movie at his house around 1 PM with dinner after.
When my family and I finally stopped working at the new house, my parents ordered a pizza, and while eating they asked about the date with Matt.
"So honey," my mom started, "how was it last night with Matt?"
I felt my cheeks start to redden as the memory of the date flashed in my mind.
"It was really nice, Mom. He was a true gentleman, like he even asked permission to hold my hand and he opened the car door for me and stuff. It was nice."
My parents smiled at each other and we continued to just eat our pizza and relax.
Saturday finally rolled around and I was so excited to watch a movie with Matt that I was bouncing all around the house waiting for 1 PM to roll around. Or at least attempting to bounce around when you have an injured foot.
I was sitting on the couch imagining what it would be like at his house when my phone buzzed. Matt was calling, so I answered excitedly.
"Hey Matt!" I said.
"Hey beautiful, I'm like 5 minutes away from your house, so make sure you're ready!"
The excitement in his voice made my heart flutter. I replied saying "Okay, see you soon! Bye." And hung up.
Matt pulled into my driveway 5 minutes later and came up to our front door. When he saw me after I opened the door, his honey colored eyes just melted and his smile appeared. "Hey Jade, you look great," he said as he immediately swooped in and embraced me into the biggest hug of my life.
