the next morning there was no text waiting for me, no missed calls and no sign of joey even noticing how badly i needed to talk to him.

sending him a text would have been easy to do though, right? nope. so i trudged off to my bathroom to get ready for my first friday as class president.

"Y/N!" i could hear someone shout. "Y/N Y/L/N!" and then a girl with long blonde hair ran up to me.

"hi! i'm alaska, in the only member of the schools welcoming committee? i was wondering if you would be able to make an announcement on that. we need more help as it's the beginning of the year and you do know how many people join this school district, right?"

i nodded, and in retun said "of course! i'll put my things away and head to the office to add that to the announcements list right away, alaska. thank you."

and i sped off to my locker to finish the first task of my class presidency.

later that afternoon i saw joey and a red head, but i had no idea why it bothered me. i had never seen that girl before, and i didn't know her name, either.

he soon walked up to me, though, and told me what i had been wondering this whole time, sitting in the cafeteria surrounded by all but one of my closest friends.

"Y/N i want you to meet lilabet, she's new here." and pulled out a chair for her to take a seat.

"lilabet, this is Y/N. my best friend."

clearly he didn't understand what was going on in my head at that moment, but i still wondered why she was hanging out with him of all people.

she shot me a glare, joey distracted by the conversation going on between josh and james.

"um, joey?" i said, getting his attention. "could we talk? yano, privately?" i asked him, as he got out of his chair and followed me to the hall by our lockers.

"i've been thinking about yesterday," i told him, a look of realization hits him in the face. "and i wanted to say that i'm sorry. you know, for pushing you away so quickly. i was caught off guard."

"so your saying?"

"i like you joey."

and with that i was left in confusion, not hearing a word from him until two weeks later.

"i'm dating lilabet now."
