Emma didn't know what had happened. One minute she was walking through the forest with Jesse, Wilson, and Navi, laughing about something, and the next, Jesse and Wilson were gone, and she was in Navi's arms. She knew that her side really hurt... And... What was up with that stick...?
Oh, wait. That's right.
Now she remembered, she had been shot with an arrow. The arrow looked unfamiliar to her friends, but Emma recognized it. She'd run from arrows such as those before.
The blue haired girl groaned in pain, wondering how they'd caught up with her.
She remembered that as a child, she loved to explore the forest near her camp, and when you have naturally blue hair, you tend to startle a few people.
She'd been taken, and she had to explain her heritage. She had to explain that she was a demon.
You see, no one approved of that.
They sentenced the little girl to death.
Somehow, the little girl had escaped and found her way home. She didn't quite remember how...
But now, it didn't matter how. Emma was dying.
Navi was whispering to her, trying not to cry. "Emma, don't go... You can't leave me... You've been my best friend since we were eleven, you can't leave me now! Stay... Stay with us...!"
Emma smiled slightly up at her, suddenly sleepy. "You nerd, you'll be fi-ine.... Fine without me...."
Navi shook her head as the tears started to slip down her cheeks. "No... No, Em, you can't die!"
Emma managed a small laugh, wincing in pain almost instantly. "I can... I-..." She coughed, feeling the blood at the corner of her mouth as it began to streak down the side of her face.
Wilson and Jesse came running over. Jesse kneeled on the other side of Emma, in front of Navi. Wilson kneeled beside Navi. Both boys looked worried.
Navi gently passed Emma over to Jesse and he brushed Emma's hair out of her face. "He-y..."
She smiled at him, still extremely tired. "Hi, Daunt-less....! I love you..."
A tear rolled down his cheek, and she reached up and wiped it away with her thumb.
"I love you too, Beautiful..."
She closed her eyes, still smiling slightly. "That's good..." Her voice was barely above a whisper. Gently, she moved her hand to the back of his neck, and in a small swooping motion, she ran her fingers up over his head, messing up his hair.
She pulled her hand back and draped her arm over her stomach. Her eyes were still closed. Her breathing was faint and slow, and suddenly, it was gone all together, and her body went limp.
The beautiful girl with the blue hair was gone.
