Everyone filed out of the examination hall with a bounce in their steps. It was the last time that they would ever be going inside one and giving an exam for it had been the last paper of their final year. Now they were free as birds to spread their wings and fly away into the huge wide world. Aparna formed the rear of the group walking out of the room. Her feet dragged unlike that of others and her mind whirled withn a thousand thoughts. It was the completion of a dream for her, the end of a certain life and the beginning of another. Her future lay before her but it was obscured by a mist of uncertainity for she hardly knew what to do after going out of the gates of the University. Beside her matching step for step was Adarsh, the one person who had borne all of Aparna's whims for the past couple years uncomplainingly. He was the reason she retained her sanity and had a smile plastered on her lips. Her bestfriend. "Dude, what's the matter? Finally we get to be free after three long years of torture and here you are making a long face instead of skipping and dancing with abandon," Adarsh asked her at length. Aparna shook out of her reverie and flashed him a disarming smile before saying, "Nothing Adi. I was just wondering what would happen to me once I am out of here. What would I do now?" Adarsh let out a boisterous laughter and pulled Aparna against his side. "Always the wonderer, my baby girl. Lets not think of the future. Today is the time to let loose and enjoy," he said. Aparna looked at him queerly,    " Adi, you used 'let loose' and 'me' in the same sentence. Dont you know that I am the University nerd and workaholic. Moreover, parties are not my cup of thing," she said. " Trust me. You will have the best night of your life tonight. Just turn off that brain of yours and simply do what I say. Meet me at our tea joint in an hour," Adarsh stated with an air of surety. Aparna stared at him quizzically and was almost at the verge of making excuses and backing off but Adarsh's earnest expression prevented her from doing so. Thus, she breathed a silent, defeated "Okay."
