Being a mixed-race child wasn't the best in a Korean school. You grew up in the states before moving when you turned 8, you had learned Korean from an early age because its where your dad came from. It was hard going to a Korean school though, you got called a range of different names and bullied for your looks. It wasn't just because you where half Korean half American it was also because you were a natural blonde which you didn't see much of in Korea.

When you turned 16 your parents moved to Seoul, you didn't have many years of high school left so you decided a fresh start might be good for you.

You walked through the school hallways trying to find your way. You made it to the principal's office where you were paired with a girl who was meant to be in all the same classes as you, she would be your tour guide of the school. You could tell she couldn't care less about you as she walked off with you trailing behind.

Your first lesson was science where you were paired with a girl who was meant to be popular but you couldn't care less. "So, where you from" she spoke up not really paying attention to the teacher.
"Moved from America at age 8 lived in Busan for the past 8 years before moving here, why? Want to make fun of my looks as well" she looked at you and smirked, she didn't seem to mind your attitude towards her.
"No I didn't ask to make fun of your looks and isn't someone feisty. You just caught my eye that's all. Its Sowon by the way"
"(y/n)" you answered turning away.

You and Sowon became closer over the next few months, it was like you had known her for years. It surprised you that a popular girl like Sowon would take a liking to you, not many kids had in Korea. You began to develop feelings for Sowon over the next year.

Your last year in high school was coming to an end, ever since you met Sowon you had noticed she never gave a boy a chance when they confessed to her, you didn't understand though.

"Sowon why haven't you dated any guy whose asked you out" you questioned stopping on a quiet sidewalk on your way home.
"I find no interest in them" she replied coolly
"So uhm do you like girls then" you asked turning away trying not to ask such a personal question.
"Does it matter if I do" she looked you in the eyes and you couldn't look away
"No it doesn't matter, I... I like girls as well, I'm just afraid of telling her"
"Would you tell me who it is and I'll tell you who I like. Deal"
"Deal" you replied hoping she said you
"3...2...1 you" you both spoke at the same time, looking at each other.

You spent your gap year together travelling around Asia and some parts of Europe, you both came from well off families both owning their own businesses. When you returned home you didn't know how to tell her but you were moving to the states for university.

You stood in front of your bathroom mirror like a dorky guy in the movies rehearsing their lines for a first date. "Sowon I'm going to university in the states but I will be back in 3 or 4 years, I will visit when I can." It must have been your tenth time saying it and you didn't stutter.
"Your what" you quickly turned around to see Sowon look at you with glassy eyes, since you had been together she had changed from her hard, rude popular self and became sweet and lovable.
"I... I Sowon - "she didn't let you finish
"Your leaving me alone" she let the tears slowly fall
"Hey hey please don't cry, I hate it when you cry, I don't leave for another few months and well talk everyday".

3 years after you left you lost touch, you didn't date anyone else and kept your promise of coming home. When you finally came home after you finished university you heard that Sowon had debuted as an Idol recently and her group was throwing a concert soon.

You stood at your front row seats right next to the stage where she could see you. Half way through her performance her eyes caught your and you smiled showing her you still loved her and will always be there for her no matter what or how long it takes you to return. Just one smile and you knew she was yours again.
