The Pleasure is Not Mine

"Oh. This kid." I scoffed, crossing my arms as if to block the welcome of the boy who was eyeing me with annoyance.

"Nice to see you again too. Or should I be honest and say it's absolutely sickening." He smirked, returning the unwelcoming gaze. I could feel the red lasers coming out of his evil eyes and poking me in the face. This idiot thought he was so much better than me. Well, I always know the truth. No good man would be as obnoxious with his posture as this boy was. He always wore clothes that looked a size too big. I'd blame his parents for buying those things but it's obviously his fault for adapting that stale old man taste in the first place. To add to the lazy "literally woke up like this" look, he would purposefully mess up his thin hair to make him look chill. I say purposefully because it looks to me like he puts a lot of effort into maintaining that mop. I bet he spent an hour this morning moving every hair into place. I'll have you know if you were chill you wouldn't care that much about a dust collector sitting like a duck on your head. Ichiro, the first born. It's like he thinks that everything is rightfully his. Not true, I'd tell him. But it's impossible to talk sense into that intolerable jar of slime!!

"Wait, you know him?" My friend exchanged glances from both of us, astonished.

"Yeah, Ayumi. We've met." I gritted my teeth, not breaking the angered stare with Ichiro.

"Oh, heh, must've been a bad day huh?" She giggled in attempt to relieve the tension.

"Actually, it was a really good day for me." The tall boy loomed over me to force the blame on me.

"I was just bringing you down a few levels. If your ego gets any bigger you'll SMASH YOUR HEAD ON THE CEILING." I raised my voice in defence.

"I bet you'd really like that, wouldn't you." His smile got wider as he watches my temper go up in flames.

"My oh my, look at the time! We need to leave! C'mon (Y/n)!" Ayumi cheerfully yet harshly snatched my arm and dragged me away. Her eyes were filled with determination but she kept her wide smile plastered to her face as she marched into a distant classroom.

"OW!" I yelled as a means to tell my "friend" she was going at it a little rough this time.

"What's with you and hating all the hot guys I'm throwing at you?! Can't you see I'm trying to ease you out of your shell?" Ayumi questioned.

"I think 'force' is the correct word for it." I smiled, dusting myself off. "And I didn't ask for it either. It's not like I want a dude to hang around, I'm content with my life!"

"But you seem to really hate all my friends." She pouted.

"They just have little things that I can't stand. Not my fault, theirs. Besides, you're enough of a friend group for me." I replied. I meant it too. Of all the students in this school and kids my age outside of it, Ayumi is the easiest to tolerate. She has good respectable manners to everyone she ever meets but also keeps a temper that'll explode if her actions aren't returned. Lucky for her pretty face, the boys she meets always do in fear of offending her and never getting a chance to talk to her again, or worse, getting their heads stuck in the dirt. She was also very happy to meet someone new. However, her attention span keeps her from keeping too close of a relationship. This way, she's always changing tables in the cafeteria and bringing me along with her. Knowing her, I'm not sure why we're so close as friends. There must be something that makes me interesting or we wouldn't be.

"Aw! You're my best friend too!" Ayumi squealed and gave me a tight hug

"Aw! You're my best friend too!" Ayumi squealed and gave me a tight hug. "But I still want you to get out there. It pains me as a mothering friend to have to leave you all by yourself when I'm not there!"

"Don't worry about me. I could use the alone time." I waved it off.

She gave a sad, disapproving look."Just make one more friend. A close one! Not just another person you talk to when you feel like it, that's not how this works!"

"You make it sound complicated." I whined.

"Promise me!" She said, raising her voice. Her eyebrows were low in determination.

"Fine! I'll find a friend for you!" I signed, giving in.

"It's for you not me." She clarified as she made sure the door was wide open for when she headed out.

"Mehmehmeh." I mumbled, annoyed. As I followed her out, I almost jump to see that Ichiro was walking by Ayumi as if he was waiting for her to leave. His long strides encouraged Ayumi to double her pace, leaving me a few feet behind them. They were talking quietly of front of me. I couldn't hear any of it. There was obviously some conspiracy against me whenever he was around. Both of them glanced back at me for a second as they paused their little chat. Then he left. "What was that all about?"

"Uhh, non of your concern!" Ayumi smiled. I could see it in her eyes that it was a lie and really was my concern.

"Ugh, don't worry I already know. He was telling you how bad your mistake was, wasn't he?" I assumed.

She let out a sigh through a smile but the question remained unanswered.

"...I knew it."
