An ugly war had been waged over the world that I once called home. Houses burned and so did the people with them. My siblings perished in a horrifying fight, and my parents were lost to the fire. Yet, in the middle of it all, a figure of unknown creation stood tall. Even if he had no mouth, his laugh would still echo around me. Beyond horrified and unsure of what to do, I just witnessed as this thing tore through the people and world relentlessly.

Every time he came to a halt, his eyes would always fall upon me. Like I had some purpose in all this, a reason to be alive. It felt like those eyes of magenta and yellow would pierce through me like needles. I could barely move through all that was happening, as if my feet were glued to the ground. The unforgiving heat from the flames would sting whenever it got too close. In which it ultimately pulled a pained expression from my face.

The other's laughter would echo out once more, as he made his slow approach in my direction. At this point, I was tired, beaten, and sore from standing for so long. Once the other had finished his approach, a cold hand found itself beneath my chin, lifting my head to meet his gaze.

"I see that you were still good enough to stay standing throughout this all. Surprising, coming from someone who could barely hold their sword without shaking. Does my presence scare you that badly? Oh wait, but that's only natural. We both have the same radiating energy; darkness." Whoever they were, they seemed to go on a unnaturally long rant, which annoyed me to an unreasonable level.

In my defense, I tried to come up with something. A lie or an excuse, but all I could come up with was a simple; "I have no idea what you are talking about." Yet, when I said that, I was speaking to him through gritted teeth.

"That's too bad then. I was willing to have you join my little group of monsters per say. Though of course, even if you resist it now, you will still come to me. It is inevitable." His low-tone voice sent chills down my spine. An unnecessary anger pent up within every time he spoke as well.

He had just taken everything from me. I don't even have a good idea of where he threw my companion. The last memory of him was before the town was in ruins. He was being hurled through a rift by this monster.

With nothing more to lose, I grasped the blade embedded between my palm and fingers. He was right here, I could end it all with one motion. The monster would die today.

Yet, in the instance anything had happened between me and him. It soon became clouded by a light, then pure darkness. Silence.
