Day One

I wake up and look over at the alarm clock as it blares loudly
"Time for wor-"
I look at the clock and it says 10:56 AM.. Late for work by over an hour
"Ohh man!!"
I spring out of bed quickly and rush to get dressed, picking out the best matching button up shirt and pants and I grab both.
"Gotta hurry.. Gotta hurry"
I slip the button up shirt over a new white tank top and I pull my pants up over my red boxers
"Damn, my boss is probably losing his mind.."
I slip my polished shoes on and I grab a water out of the fridge and the keys to my car and I walk-run out of the front door, locking it behind me and I rush to the car, unlocking it with the button as I get close and I get in quickly, putting the water in the cup holder and starting the car
"I am so screwed.. Damn it!"
I lay my head against the steering wheel for a few seconds before closing the drivers door and putting my seatbelt on.
I reverse out of the drive way and then drive towards my work.. An insurance company building
I look around as I drive over the speed limit, keeping an eye out for police
"No police.. No getting pulled over.. That's good. Now to be me.. "
I lie to myself and I start to think and act in a way that the rest of my co workers know me as. A good listener that is a little too enthusiastic.
"Time for work! It's gonna be fun! Can't wait to see how everyone is doing.."
I talk to myself for the rest of the drive and when I finally arrive over two hours late to work, I start to get nervous as I walk to the front door with my water in hand.
I enter the building and am immediately greeted by my boss
"Hey James! How are you today? I can't wait to get to work!"
He stops me as I try to walk past him and I look him in the eyes and I can tell he is not happy.
"Mark.. Why are you late? Again.." - James says.
I look into his eyes for a few seconds..
"I was uhh.. Stuck in traffic and I woke up a few minutes late"
I bend the truth and look as honest as possible, while looking into his eyes. And he lets me go after about ten seconds and shoos me off to work
"Whew!... Time for a busy day"
