Curled up, deep into the depths of their queen-size bed, Brooklyn was drifting in and out of sleep. Her brain was screaming she had to wake up, get ready, and go to work, her first day to be precise, but her body wasn't responding at all. The freshly clean, soft linen sheets weren't helping her either. She was just lying there with her favorite pillow enveloped tightly in her arms. It's been two days she's been away from Manila and her pillow reminded her of home. Maybe two more minutes. Or maybe five. But it wouldn't be a bad idea to make it ten minutes.
There was a flash of blinding light as the curtains were yanked back.
'What the...'
"Brook, honestly, we're gonna be so late. It's your first day at Big Hit for crying out loud!"
And just like that, Brooklyn's eyes opened wide, immediately. She blinked blearily, trying to focus on the gray-ish shape in front of her. The silhouette belonged to her childhood bestfriend, Klara, who had her arms on her hips. "Annyeong Haseyo, Brook."
"Oh my god... we shouldn't have drank." Brooklyn mumbled quietly while looking around the bedroom. A couple of cardboard boxes were stacked neatly in a corner. The boxes were marked BROOKLYN'S BEDROOM STUFF in pink because she couldn't find a black Sharpie during her packing marathon spree back home in Manila. She had just moved to Korea two days ago, and she still had a lot of settling in to do. She was currently living with Klara in her gorgeous 2-story apartment in Gangnam.
"We had to drink a little, Brook. To celebrate you getting in," Klara said, giving her a gentle shove. "but real talk, we have to leave in an hour. I repeat, it's your first day."
Brooklyn jumped out of bed and stood still. What was she supposed to do? She had to take a quick shower. Maybe a three minute shower. Disgusting, but it's not like she had a choice.
"Get moving, Brook. I'm gonna make us some coffee." Klara said, her bestfriend's voice ringing loudly in Brooklyn's ears.
"Not too bitter." Brook mumbled quietly.
"I know that already." Klara said, running to the kitchen.
Brooklyn smiled warmly. There was nothing the two friends didn't know about each other. She had first met Klara twenty years ago, in grade school. They bonded over raiding the school's costume department, making fun of their homeroom advisor who always punished them after class and playing dress up after school. They were so similar but very different as well.
Klara was still the same old Klara - the chillest person with off-the-charts looks who never hesitated to say whatever was on her mind. Her motto in life was, "What you see is what you get." which made everyone crazy about her.
And Brooklyn was the same old Brook: wanting to dress everyone up and letting her creative juices flow wherever it took her. In fact, that's why she was finally here in Korea. Klara was working in Big Hit Entertainment for a few years now as the Visual Director - she was in charge for coming up with new looks and hair styles for all the artists. Klara was very close with BTS's Head Fashion Stylist and Creative Director, Jung Ji Won. One of her assistants suddenly resigned and Klara referred Brookyln to take the empty slot.
And luckily, she got in.
"Honestly, I love you, Brook. But you have to take the fastest shower in your life right now."
