Chapter 2

FIVE YEARS LATER

Nathaniel's POV

"Venelope hurry up! We're going to be late!" I scream from the garage as I wait for my fiancé to hurry up and come outside. Ven & I are still together & just last year I proposed to her. My parents & entire family love her, she gets along so well with my siblings, & I've been in love with her since I was 16. Why wouldn't I want to marry her?

"Okay, okay I'm ready now." She comes outside with her hair blowing in the December wind & a scarf wrapped around her neck, only showing her cheeks as they turn pink once she walks out. She walks towards me & starts talking but I was too busy admiring the face I've grown to love for years now.

"Nathaniel! Staring isn't going to drive us to your moms house." She giggles. I smile and give her a kiss.

"I love you," I tell her & kiss her again. She kisses me back and put her hand on my cheek.

"I love you more. Now get in the car before we both get pneumonia." She says and we both laugh and get into the car. I start the car & wait for it to warm up before pulling out of the garage. I was able to find a small building/town house, once Ven & I finished college, that has only three apartments & bought the whole building. I rented two of the apartments out & Ven & I moved into the one on the first floor. I was tired of living with my parents while being with Ven, I plan on being with her for the rest of my life, why not start that goal off by moving in together.

While driving to my moms house to give her a visit, it's quiet between Ven & I. I reach towards her to grab her hand and put both of our hands on my lap. She looks over at me & gives me a small smile.

"You okay, mi amor?" I question her.

"Yeah I'm fine, just thinking." She answers.

"What's on your mind, babe?" I squeeze her hand a little and start to caress her hand with my thumb.

"The other day, when your family came over & so did Landon, he came without Ariel." She starts.

"Yeah cause Ariel had to work that night, that's what's on your mind?" I say worried.

"I don't know, it's something different about Landon. Like he's hiding something. I think it's just me but I don't know." She puts her head down & shakes her head. I start to think about what she means, but Landon has been himself all this time. Then again, Ven always gets those weird feelings in her gut & they're always so true. So I continue to listen to what she has to say.

"You know how Landon is, babe. He's been a natural flirt since his young days. Yeah he lives with his girlfriend & they have a nice house. But I can't help but feel that he's hiding something." She says and looks at me. I find a parking spot & park the car and walk out first so I could open the door for Ven.

"He may be hiding something, but all we can do for now is just wait and see if it's true." I shrug. She sighs and takes my hand as we walk into my moms building.

Landon's POV

"What am I gonna tell Ariel? Gosh I am so stupid. I always do this shit, you always fuck up Landon." I put my hands on my face and try to face the mistake I've just done. I'm pacing back & forth in Jennifer's room as I try to process what she just finished telling me.

"It's your fault. You were the one seducing me-"

"Shut the hell up. I was drunk and you were all over me knowing how I get when I'm drunk. I live with Ariel for crying out loud! We've been together since high school. If she finds out that I cheated & got you pregnant she's going to leave me!" I start to cry. I sit down on the couch and cover my face with my hands again.
