My name, is Jaeric. Well, at least that's what my friends call me. My given name is Jackson Crest, and like most other people my age I play "Project Sigma", it's a full dive virtual reality game using something called the Intellipod. Actually, let me explain.
A couple years back a company called IntelliCorp came out with a new virtual reality pod that was made to help deal with our population crisis. Five years ago, 2080, a lot of things went downhill for the economy and the way of life. With the population surpassing 10 billion strong the housing circumstance started to go from failing to crumbling. That's when IntelliCorp came out with the pod. Instead of going to a building to work you could just hop in the pod and go to work in a virtual center for you, whether it be a cubicle or even a restaurant. The pod puts you essentially into a coma-like state and gives you all the nutrients you need to live while jacking into your nervous system and rooting all you motion controls and senses into the virtual world. You can eat, sleep, and even some more... adult things with the pod all in their virtual world. With that being said, the upbringing of a full dive system came full dive games. Project sigma is the leading game of the VRMMORPG genre or Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game for those born back in the 2000's, I doubt they even had wifi back then.
Anyways, along with its fair share of rip offs and bootlegs, Sigma is a one of a kind game. The devs put so much time and effort into the game that there were rumors that one of them died from overworking himself. The hard work really shows in the final product though, and you know why it's number one. Not only can you feel, taste, hear, and smell in the game, you can dream. It's actually a big part of the game, dreams are a way to tweak your character with small unique attributes. None of the rip offs or bootlegs of the game come close to the dream sequences in Sigma. They, unlike the rest of the game are unstreamable so only you get to experience them and explain them. This gives the other games no way to copy the aspect to the full potential and makes the game all the better for it. Sigma is a medieval fantasy game with swordsmanship, magic, and all sorts of different races or classes. A lot of people call it old fashioned, yet it revels in nostalgia of the days of games like AdventureQuest, Guild Wars, or even World of Warcraft. I mean, who wouldn't want to be a half orc berserker, a noble priest healing people around the world, or an elven wizard blasting your enemies with lightning bolts? It's a sense of adventure and freedom that you can't get in the dreary reality that the earth has become and consumed.
Seems a bit dark but in the past few decades human living has begun to turn into compartmentalized quarters where everyone only gets a certain amount of space allotted by the government based on your job. Obviously unfair, but how else are they gonna keep the rich happy and corrupt. That's what this world has come to, also that's why the Intellipod has become so popular. That and for some odd reason IntelliCorp just gives the things away like they're nothing. There are plenty of conspiracy theories about them but no one has found anything to prove that they have any ill intent. I for one am grateful, but also suspicious. I guess they have the money to give all this tech away but will also make plenty more through purchases in the virtual world. In the meantime I'm just gonna keep quiet and stay skeptical.
