Westley,

I know it's been but a day, but I wish to thank you for your kind service to me. Some urgent business came up, which is why I must leave so abruptly. I must warn you, however, that trying to come after me would not be in either of our best interests. The people with whom I'm dealing are not the most caring or thoughtful, and they will not hesitate to dispose of you as they see fit. Please, heed my warning. I do not wish to see you harmed.

Your loyal friend,

Ivory

I folded the paper and placed it on the edge of the bed, alongside the clothing Westley bought me the day before. With Lucifer coming, I couldn't be seen in modern era clothing; that would set off too much suspicion in Lucifer's mind. I tucked the Maelstrom, cell phone, and address into one of the folds of my dresses. With that, I set off into the early morning light, closing the apartment door as quietly as possible.

Walking through the hilly streets of San Francisco, I let my mind wander. Thoughts of my past life, thoughts of Lucifer and my new life, and finally, thoughts of Westley filled my mind. I wondered what life would have been like if I had had the opportunity to live out the rest of my days. Would I have married? Would I have many children, and even grandchildren? The one thought that stuck the most in my mind was the fact that I never would have met Westley if I'd been free to live. The thought shook me, but I couldn't understand why. I had only known him for a day, he shouldn't have had such an effect on me.

I cleared my mind of all thoughts, for I had reached my destination: the small, grassy park across from the home of the man I was to murder. The park was small, barely taking up a block. It was on a small hill with a few trees dotted at the top. There was a fountain in the center surrounded by colorful flowers. The air smelled of saltwater and the freshness of a new morning. I knew it was a prime location because it was logical and straightforward, just as Lucifer was.

Remembering my mission, I went to take cover in the few trees on the hill. When Lucifer came, he would find me here, hiding. It was safer for Westley this way, though not necessarily safer for me with all the angels lurking around.

I got myself comfortable with my back resting on a tree trunk, waiting. In the meantime, I took out the cell phone Lucifer gave me and stared at my reflection in the glossy surface. My plain brown eyes stared back, seemingly empty of all emotion. My porcelain skin held a deathly sort of glow.

Fun fact about us dead people: we aren't pale because we're dead, we're pale because there's practically no light in the Underworld. And after being locked in a room for a few decades, my skin was exceptionally pale.

The wind blew slightly and my long dirty blonde locks flew in my face, blocking my view of the phone screen. I pulled my hair back and braided it quickly, the plait almost reaching my backside. I went back to staring at the phone, exploring the extreme sadness in my eyes when the screen lit up, vibrating urgently. The familiar name popped up as the phone continued vibrating violently, as if trying to convey the message the caller carried on his lips. Sighing, I answered the phone.

"Hello Lucifer," I said calmly, hiding the fear I felt deep inside.

"Ivy, how are you holding up?" Lucifer said.

"I'm doing well, and yourself?"

"Well.... Do you think you could make it a few more days on your own? There's been more genocides in the Middle East, so I've got a lot of orders to oversee. It's gonna take me at least a couple of days, if not a whole week to see all these people."
