He didn't really know how it happened, but he sort of just fell in love.
Now, it's not like Ja'far was stupid, he just had never felt anything such as 'love' in his life; so it took him by surprise.
To be completely honest, the signs had been there for a while, he just always either ignored, excused or denied them.
If it weren't for the advisers usual expressionless face, Sinbad would have noticed way earlier, but when he eventually did, he was amused to say the least.
It all started one morning when the former assassin seemed unusually unfocused, which concerned Sinbad enough for him to ask his stubborn vessel if he needed to take the day off.
Ja'far, of course, replied no, and instead told his king how he was just 'a bit lost in thought and confused.'
Sinbad didn't think much of it at first, but his suspicion grew as he noticed a pair of green eyes constantly catching glimpses of a certain (h/c) haired healing magician.
This went on for a few more weeks, which only included more signs such as Ja'far constantly worrying about a certain woman's safety, whereabouts and health. By this point, Sinbad already knew Ja'far was in love; but Ja'far didn't know himself.
'Yes, being his King and, overall, friend; it is my responsibility to help Ja'far.' The purplette had convinced himself, calling his adviser to his office.
'He probably already knows and is just too shy or confused to do anything about it,' he told himself as the white haired man stepped in the room and closed the door.
'Nothing he doesn't already know, right?'
Wrong.
As soon as the word 'love' left Sinbad's lips, Ja'far was already lost in the conversation, which he quite honestly didn't know why he was having, to begin with.
It took a lot more than a couple minutes to explain to Ja'far what he was feeling and towards who, and even a few hours more for the adviser to realize it was true.
That night, Ja'far changed clothes, laid in bed but couldn't manage to sleep at all, the same thought clouding his mind.
'Love?' It made no sense! How could he possibly feel something that useless and troublesome when he had so many more important things to think about? It was nonsense told to him by his stupid King. Or so Ja'far told himself so that he would calm down and sleep.
He couldn't sleep anyway, so the only thing he had left to do, was think.
Could he love? Why would he fall in love? If he seriously was in love with you, shouldn't he feel different?
The advisor closed his eyes, looking back at the time he had spent with you.
He felt it all: his heartbeat quickening at the thought of your smile, how he'd feel nervous when you came back to the palace late at night, how he'd feel unusually happy whenever you'd casually talk to him or even just smile at him while walking down the halls.
After that night of emotional revelation, the adviser couldn't manage to act normally around you anymore. His face would turn ketchup red with every smile, he'd hold his breath whenever your hands would touch, his heartbeat would grow louder and louder every time you'd say his name. He knew it.
He had fallen for you.
