Chapter 8

I'm dozing off in the car while Kihyun is driving. I still feel sleepy from that hangover although I felt a bit better because of the soup that he made.

"We're almost there so get ready." Kihyun said.

"Arasseo."

I then sat up properly and tried to stay awake as possible.

For goodness sake.

Why did I drink so much last night?

Kihyun then parked and we got off the car.

"Don't you have work?" I asked.

"I took the day off."

"So CEOs have day offs too?"

"What do you think of CEOs? Robots?"

"Aniyo. I just thought that CEOs are workaholic and does not have time to rest."

"If that's the case then I could have died already."

"So you took the day off for me?" I grinned so I could tease him.

"Do you want me to leave you here right now?"

Aish. This cranky guy.

I have no choice but to shut my mouth.

We went inside the hospital and he quickly found my mother's room.

"We can't stay long. So be brief with whatever you want to say." He said before opening the door.

Finally, I'll be able to see my mother.

"But won't this break the deal she has with the old men?"

"I'll take responsibility. She already started her chemotheraphy yesterday and she kept on asking the doctor if she could see you."

I looked at him straight in the eyes.

I'm so touched.

He even went to this extent just to let me meet my mother.

I got teary-eyed just by thinking of it.

"Ya, ya. Save that for later when you meet your mom." He said.

I smiled.

He then opened the door.

My mother was laying in the bed with her eyes closed. I walked nearer and stood beside her. She then slowly moved her head and opened her eyes.

"Sohee?"

"Eomma.." I couldn't help but cry. I quickly hugged her without any second thoughts. She also cried.

"Eomma.. I miss you so much."

"Me too. I'm so happy I got to see you."

I then sat in the bed, beside her. I held her hand as I wiped my tears with the back of my other hand.

"I'm sorry, eomma. Everything happened in a flash. I didn't get to talk to you about this."

"The men who came to me explained everything that happened. I opposed at first but I realized I couldn't do much when it already happened. All I could do is agree."

"Me too eomma. I was thinking of you and Junhee when I made the decision. I wanted what's best for you."

"How about you? Are you okay?"

I then glanced at Kihyun who was standing behind me.

"I'm fine, eomma. Someone has been taking care of me." I smiled.
