"Don't. Don't do this just because you're scared." I beg him, my eyes filling with tears and I step closer to grab his hand. He looks at them for a while, rubs my knuckles and I think he's going to change his mind.
"No." He coldly responds removing his hand from mine and looks away.
"C'mon Harry, this can work."
"It can't. I never should have started this."
months earlier
"C'mon Harry, we have to work together." I remind him for what it seems to be the millionth time.
"Or we can split tasks and do them individually." He gives me the same answer. "I can't be seen with you."
"Well, sorry Harry, but the teacher put us together so you're stuck with me." My hands are resting on my hips and I'm starting to get annoyed by his fear of losing his image. "Is really what others think more important than your future? 'Cause if we don't do this right we both fail and I don't crave to repeat year twelve."
My words seem to have an effect on him and there is a moment of silence. Our eyes lock, it seems like there is a battle happening inside his head to decide whether what I said is true or not. He opens his mouth to talk but he is cut off by some of his friends.
"Hey, Styles! What are you doing with her?" A boy with blue eyes and brown hair asks. I think Louis is his name.
"Nothing." He quickly responds making me roll my eyes. "We weren't even talking."
"Uhm, come with us then, we're going to bio."
"Right behind you." The curly headed boy says as they continue to walk and then turns to me whispering. "We will talk later. Don't tell anyone you are doing the presentation with me."
I cross my arms, not believing his need to be accepted by that jerk.
"Anyone." He repeats before leaving me alone.
