Evalynne

                         *tick..tick*

The sound of the clock slowly ticking just above my head. The damp, and cold room gave me chills, and the old squeaky mattress laying beneath me as I ponder about what's going to be served for dinner this night.

My eyes burned as the dusty air circulates around me. I wiped away the small tears that rolled down my face. My eyes wondering around the same old and bare room I've been in since I was 10 years old.

My mother, she got busted for dealing drugs such as, cocaine, and meth.
My father was barely around and left me and my mother all on our own. I remember when we had to beg for money and food because we were so broke and hungry, and all of that made a huge impact on my mother.

I sighed and hung my head low as I heard the footsteps of the other children. The door flew up to reveal 3 teenagers, ranging from 15 to 16.
They eyed me and swiftly turned around and walked out.

No one wants to talk to me or be near me. I feel like I'm a burden to the world and that no one will love me. I took my legs off the bed and placed my feet on the wooden floor. My feet were freezing and felt numb from the cold right now.

I got up and walked down the hall way. I played around with my boring Burnette hair as I walked down the stairs and into the kitchen where we were supposed to prep for dinner.

I saw the girl I always cook with. She turned around and looked at me with her sparkling dark blue eyes with a speck of green lingering in there.

I wish I looked like her, with her beautiful long and curly fiery red hair and her slim figure. "Evalynne! You made it in time. I was just about to start without you." She said as she started to slowly peel at the potatoes left in the bowl of cold water.

I heaved a sigh and looked at her.
"I'm sorry daisy. I haven't been feeling good lately." I hung my head low with regret because I hated for her having to wait for me everytime.

She laughed and grabbed my cold and frail hands into her warm ones.
"Evalynne, It doesn't bother me but if Ms. Veil finds out you're always late to make dinner...then you can get into trouble." She explained to me.

I nodded in an understanding of what she just said and decided to help peel the potatoes. She went over to grab a pot to boil the water in.

      ___time passed to dinner___

I set the mounts of food onto the table for all the children. We have at least 15 other kids in this place. I stood by the table as the usual and waited for the children to come racing down those old vintage stairs.

I look around in confusion when I heard no one coming, nor did I see daisy around anywhere.
I heard whispering around the living room area and I decided to check it out. Ms. Veil and the kids as well as daisy were sitting on the couch and on chairs.

They turned their heads to me and Ms. Veil got up and took my hand and led me to the couch area.
"Evalynne, We all have something to talk about this upcoming friday."
I gulped and look at them not knowing what's going to happen next.
