Alina was unconscious and shaking with coldness. Gene took off his cape and wrapped her in it. There you go Alina, Gene thought. He smiled. It was probably the first time he had smiled in a century. To be honest, the first time he really ever felt good about himself. It was a reassuring feeling.

All of a sudden, he felt a striking pain in his leg. "Ow...that hurts..that sword hits hard that's for sure" He tried to get up but he kept falling over. Great..I can't walk..how am I going to get anywhere? What if the portal opens up here again?

No, he can't think like that. He can walk if he finds a way or finds something to help him walk. He tried using his powers to summon something but it didn't work. He obviously had to be more experienced in order to achieve the magic for summoning things. He looked around and saw a plant with long leaves nearby.

That might work, He thought.

He dragged over to the plant and took a few huge leaves off. He wrapped them carefully around his leg and took some string he found as well and used it to tie the leaf-bandage he made. It still hurt enormously but he was strong. He could manage.

Gene limp-walked back over to Alina who was still sleeping. He picked her up and started to walk. Little did he know he was leaving a blood trail behind him...

~~~~~~~~~Meanwhile~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Katelyn and Dante ran out from Aphmau's house and went to the guard tower. "We should gather a few more people for backup to help" Dante suggested. Katelyn nodded and they both headed off hurriedly in opposite directions. Katelyn first went to Lucinda's house and Dante went down to the docks. By the time they had finished gathering people up, it had been almost an hour. They had Laurance, Lucinda, Kenmur, Nicole, and Travis. Katelyn and Dante explained the plan to them so they would know what to expect.
They boarded the ship and decided to set sail to Brightport first. There was a nether portal base there so it would be a good place to start.
Haley would meet them there to help get it open so they can execute the plan. While they were sailing, not too far off in the woods, there was someone watching them. He had dark hair, a evil gaze and blue eyes. He was also a Shadow Knight. It was Zane. The one that Aaron had thought he finished off when he died. He was back.
He smirked as he watched the ship sail away from Phoenix Drop. "Perfect..now would be the perfect chance..."
He used his powers and he changed to villager clothes."It's not very classy, but it'll do. I need to find out if they have any scholars in this town. If there is, then I guess they might be of use to me" He went through the woods and walked the stony path into the village. He saw many people but none that looked like scholars to him. Mostly Irene worshippers. Ugh..those pathetic fools, Zane thought.
He thought that he might not ever find someone until he came across a house with a woman sitting on the steps of it reading a book. He decided that if he wanted his plan to succeed, he had to ask this person generously. I mean, she looked like a scholar.
Zane approached the woman. "Um..excuse me..are you a scholar?" He asked. The woman looked up from her book. "Why yes, I am. My name's Emmalyn. Can I do anything for you?"
Zane fake smiled. "Actually yes, you can do something for me. I'm a scholar myself and I have been studying years of books about Lady Irene. But unfortunately, it seems nowadays, I can't get the information I need from the books. I thought I could possibly get help from a fellow scholar. I mean, if you don't want to help me, it's no bother. I can just leave if you want" Zane explained, and turned to leave.
"Wait!" Emmalyn called after Zane. Wow, she's stupid enough to actually fall for this. Heh, this is gonna be a slice of cake....
Emmalyn closed her book and opened her door. "Come right on in. Would you care for some tea or something?" She asked. Zane said nothing and just walked in her house. It was small, but very decorative.
Zane sat down on her couch near the fireplace and Emmalyn walked into the kitchen. Within a few minutes, she came out into the room with a tray containing a kettle and two coffee mugs.
Emmalyn took her mug off the tray and took a sip. Zane ignored the tea and thought to just cut to the chase.
"So, do you study alot about Lady Irene and Shadow Knights?" Zane questioned. Emmalyn nodded. "Yep! It's so interesting learning about Irene and her past. Especially with Shadow Knights and Shad. Something horrible happened not too long ago here that had to do with Shad. Shad and his army arrived through the portal and took Alina. Shad's apparent sister showed up with her army as well. It was all a mess and people are still talking about it. Enki is even back. He turned evil though and retreated to the nether with Alina and Shad. I think Shad's sisters name is...Dakota..no..or is it? Takota?" Zane rolled his eyes as she kept chatting on and on about it. It was interesting though. I mean, Shad has a sister? That's new. And Enki is back? How is that even possible? Well, Zane could worry about that later. Right now, he had to focus on accomplishing what he had planned to do here firstly.
After what seemed like forever, Emmalyn finally stopped chatting. Zane decided that this would be his chance. Emmalyn went to pick up the tray when Zane reached for it first. "I'll get that for you."
Emmalyn smiled. "How nice!" Zane put the tray in the kitchen. Emmalyn opened her book and resumed her studying from earlier. Zane suddenly walked behind her and took his sword out. He used his powers and she knocked out instantly. Zane smirked.
"Now that I've got a scholar...I think it's time I head out. Time's wasting and I need information for Shad's fragment. If I don't have it soon, there's no way I'll defeat him"
And with that, Zane picked up Emmalyn and walked out the door and ran off into the darkness of the woods....
