Chapter Two : Painkillers

"Blair get up everyone's waiting!" Elena's bold voice made the Gilbert girl shoot up from her deep slumber.

"What time is it?" She asked groggily while her sister only rolled her eyes.

"It's time for you to get downstairs." Blair was yanked from her spot — stumbling forward, a bruise sure to form form Elena's grip.

"Easy Elena!" The girl shot back as her senses heightened, Tyler walking into her bedroom.

"Good sleep?" Tyler joked, earning himself to glares in return.

|

Blair took graceful steps down the stairs — her body tensing when the doorbell rang and Jenna quickly running after just as Caroline's peppy tone was heard through the door,

why was she late?,

"Sorry we're late Ms. Sommers." Caroline's voice echoed throughout out the house, but the use of the word we made Blair get curious.

"And who is we?" Her curiosity got the best of her, but she didn't need an answer as she met her eyes met his icy blue ones, lingering for a moment before she grinned.

"Sorry to just bring him here, but this is-"

"Damon Salvatore." He answered for himself, but both the Sommers and Gilbert girl furrowed their brows.

"Salvatore as in Stefan?" Blair asked as she stood beside the strawberry blonde.

"Yes Stefan and I are brothers." He gave the simple answer while his anxiousness was surging through his body.

"Well then — Mister Salvatore please do come in." Blair smiled before walking away to the dining room — conversations bubbling around the small area as she sat next to Bonnie.

|

Blair rambled on and on about her and Elena's life to the Salvatore brothers, feeling complete trust in the two like she knew them her whole life.

"Anyway I talk way too much, tell me something about you Salvatore men." The younger Gilbert could tell Stefan was tense just by looking at him,

it couldn't be Damon could it?,

"Stefan why don't you tell the lovely birthday girl about us." Damon suggested just as everyone looked at him, waiting for his answer.

"I don't know what to say Damon."

"Sure you do Stefan, tell her about our family." Damon seemed to enjoy Stefan's obvious tenseness and uncomfortability.

"I'd rather not Damon." A genius didn't need to tell that the two had tension — Jenna changed the subject quickly before it got out of hand.

"Elena dessert?" Jenna asked as the four girls stood , except for Caroline.

"What's wrong with them?" Blair asked quietly to Elena, only getting a shrug in return.

"Stefan just said that him and his brother weren't close that's all." Before the two Gilberts could continue their discussion — Bonnie shoved dessert bowls in their chests.

"Go hand out dessert bowls and pretend to be excited when you see the cake, I worked hard on it." Jenna ordered while Bonnie wiggled her brows.

Laughter erupted in the next room and all three girls grinned.

Good job Stefan.

"Oh m&ms! I love it Jenna." Blair teased the trio at the candy covered cake.

|

"Here you — where's Damon and Caroline?" Blair asked but before there was an actual answer — Matt grinned. "Matty blue tell me where they went."

"I'm sorry Blair but I can't" Matt pouted, leaving Blair to glare as she handed out the rest of the bowls.

Her hand brushed against Stefan's — a cold, harsh vibration going up her spine — shaking her body and causing her thoughts to become frazzled.

Blair's body went into shock as a raspy voice whispered that word.

Vampire.

Glass smashing was the last thing Blair could register in her mind before the ground rushed up to meet her in a bitter embrace.

|

Both Jenna's and Elena's panicked voices is what woke Blair — her head throbbing before her eyes flickered to Tyler's — letting out a relieved sigh.

"She's awake." His hoarse voice caused Blair to groan while Jenna patted away at her head with a damp cloth.

"What happened?" She mumbled, making Tyler let out a scoff like laugh — Elena shooting daggers at him.

"You broke a bowl in your bare hand, then blacked out hitting your head pretty damn hard." Tyler's voice sounded so worried and Blair pouted, she didn't mean to do whatever she just did.

Her eyes looked over to Matt who was standing with. . . Stefan.

Blair winced — finally noticing the aching in her palm — Tyler was picking glass out and the thought of what happened before the glass breaking, the voice.

"The voice, it — it-" Stefan suddenly locked eyes with Blair — a rapid blink finding it's way to her eyelids, a nervous trait she picked up form her father.

"What voice Blair? God dammit what are you on?" Tyler exclaimed, making everyone look at him. "You know what nevermind." Realizing he shouldn't have said anything around Elena or Jenna.

Tyler's arms surrounded Blair,  holding her like she was his bride, going up to her bedroom.

He plopped the young Gilbert down and begin to dig through her closet.

"What are you doing?" Her words were a bit slurred from the pain both in her hand and head.

"I wasn't supposed to tell you, but Caroline's having a party for you today instead of tomorrow and since your kind of loopy right now, I wanted to give you a heads up." The brunette scoffed at his inability to tell her sooner as she walked into the bathroom.

Blair slammed the drawers shut after realizing the was no painkillers any where to be found.

Jeremy.

She knew he sold the Gilbert girl's depression medication — they never used them anyway, but Blair needed her painkillers.

"Jere I — oh my god Vicki!" She was naked in front of Jeremy, but jumped out of both our views. "I — I — I need a pain killer and oh my god she's naked." Blair held up her hand to block the veiw as Jeremy wrapped his sheet around himself — grabbing a bottle off his desk and walking towards the stunned girl. "So that's why you guys didn't show up, were you selling these, because I swear to god Jere-"

"I didn't, now get out, thanks for knocking." Jeremy joked as he pushed the brunette out of his room — her slightly cringing at the thought of where his hands had been.

|

"Nice, but I'd prefer to be slightly warmer tonight." Blair's words were hesitant at the sight of what Tyler had picked out.

It was a short black dress with slits under the chest to express the inner under boob. He seemed to lose energy in Blair, but she ignored him, walking into her closet.

"How bout' this?" She held it a beige sweater and ripped light wash jeans.

"Let Blair be the one who never stands even on her own birthday."

"Obviously."
