"Everyone, close your eyes."
The seven hosts closed their eyes, creating the eerie effect of suspicion and unknown all around them. Knowing what they started the game as , as well as knowing that they may not wake up the same way was slightly terrifying, even if it was just the game.
"Vampires, wake up, and look for other vampires. Give any non-vampire player a mark of the vampire."
With that, Joven raises his head and opens his eyes, hoping to spot anyone who could be there to help him. But to his dismay, no one had woken up with him. He was a lone vampire. Desperately, he looked around, trying to figure out who was the best fit for an ally. Even with the extended time, he was unsure, and ultimately pointed to his right, signaling Tim to give Courtney the mark of the vampire, and he did.
"Vampires, point at the player who has the mark of the vampire, and close your eyes."
Joven closed his eyes, silently lifted his right arm and pointed his index finger at Courtney, wiggling it in hopes of ensuring that if there was a Renfield in play, that they would see him.
"Count, wake up, and place the mark of fear in front of any non-vampire player."
Joven laughed internally, knowing well that the Count card was in the middle, and halfheartedly believed that the app was mocking him.
"Count, close your eyes. Renfield, wake up, and look around for the vampires, then, place the mark of the bat in front of you."
To Joven's luck, his prayers were answered as Flitz opened his eyes, and gazed upon Joven pointing to Courtney, signaling to him that they were both vampires. Upon request, Tim then switched Flitz's mark of clarity with the mark of the bat.
"Vampires, put your hands away. Renfield, close your eyes."
With that, Flitz returned to his slumber and Joven lowered his right arm, left to hope that nothing would go wrong with everyone else's roles.
"Cupid, wake up, and give any two players the mark of love."
Courtney then raised her head, smiling from the fact that she had the power to make any two players "fall in love". Courtney immediately pointed at Wes, and Tim proceeded to give him a mark of love. After a brief thought, Courtney pointed to Boze, and Tim reciprocated by giving Boze the second mark of love.
"Cupid, close your eyes."
Thus, Courtney closed her eyes, hoping that her actions would help her eliminate the vampires, not knowing yet that she was one herself.
"Instigator, wake up. You may give any player a mark of the traitor."
It was Damien who had been give the opportunity to turn someone against their own team. After looking around at everyone else for a moment, he aggressively pointed at himself. Tim, a bit confused, proceeded to give Damien the mark of the traitor. Tim mouthed "Are you sure?" to Damien, just to ensure that he was doing what he wanted, and Damien nodded in approval.
"Instigator, close your eyes."
Damien smiled to himself as he closed his eyes. While one would normally be happy with being a villager, he had already won as the Pickpocket in the previous game; it was time to forge a new path.
"Assassin, wake up, and place the mark of the assassin in front of any player."
Wes eagerly woke up, and looked around, trying to figure out who would be the best person to target. He ruled out Flitz, not wanting to accuse the guy who didn't want to lie to anybody. He ruled out Courtney and Damien, knowing that it might be too obvious to make someone right next to him his target. He ruled out Joven, knowing that as wild as unpredictable as Joven was, he was logical, and could easily find a way out of it. In the end, he signaled Tim to give Mari the mark of the assassin. His reasoning? Mari was the vampire last round, so maybe lightning could strike twice.
"Assassin, close your eyes. Everyone, wake up, and secretly view your mark."
As told, everyone opened their eyes and picked up their mark to view it. Joven, Flitz, and Damien had a blank expression, having seen their desired marks of clarity, the bat, and the traitor, respectively. Wes also had a blank expression, even with the mark of love, but this was done in an attempt to not give anyone information on his mark. Mari did her best to stay calm after realizing that she was the assassin's target, but couldn't help herself enough to prevent her from gazing around the table to try and figure out who was after her. Courtney viewed her mark of the vampire, hesitated for a bit, and then put the mark, now slightly stressed with trying to figure out who was on her side. Boze took one look at her mark, rolled her eyes, and put it back down. She didn't really care about what she got, knowing that she wouldn't have it for very long.
"Everyone, close your eyes. If you are in love, wake up, and look for your love interest."
Boze and Wes both opened their eyes, and immediately looked at each other. Wes carefully waved at Boze in happiness, knowing that there was someone else in the same predicament. Boze waved back, smiling as to not give Wes any hints as to who she was.
"Lovers, close your eyes."
Wes immediately shut his eyes, knowing that everything that he could do was done, and all he had to do was wait out the remainder of the night. Boze followed suit, not before muttering "sucker" towards Wes' direction.
"Thing, wake up, and bump the shoulder of the player on your right or your left.
Mari woke up, slightly angered by the fact that she didn't have any option on who to bump. As she was sitting on the far right, she didn't have anyone on her left to bump, which forced her to bump Joven on the shoulder several times.
"Thing, close your eyes."
Mari returned to her private time, hoping that somehow she would be ale to pull out a win after failing as the vampire in the previous game.
"Marksman, wake up. You may view the mark of one player, and the card of the other player."
As it turned out, no one was the Marksman, but that didn't stop Tim from moving the cards and marks around slightly, hoping to stir up a bit of confusion.
"Marksman, close your eyes. Pickpocket, wake up. You may exchange your mark with another player's mark, and then view your new mark."
Boze then woke up, elated that she wouldn't have to face the burden of potentially dying of a broken heart. She look around at the remaining players, trying to figure out who the safest person was to pickpocket. After a thought, she figured that Courtney wouldn't be picked for anything, and requested that she steal her mark. Tim proceeded to switch the two marks, and to her shock, she had just been marked as a vampire. She had already failed the last game as the Master by trying to backup Mari, and this was the last thing she needed at the moment.
"Pickpocket, close your eyes."
Boze closed her eyes angrily, now tasked with trying to figure out what she could do to prevent her from losing again.
"Gremlin, wake up. You may switch marks or cards between any two players."
No one woke up during this point in time, meaning that the Gremlin was the third card in the middle of the playing field, along with the Count and the Marksman. Tim scurried over to move everyone's marks and cards around slightly, as to maintain anonymity amongst the group with whether or not their marks or cards were switched.
"Gremlin, close your eyes. Everyone, wake up."
A part of me thinks that this story will contain more chapters than originally intended. The actual interaction scene will likely not come until chapter 5 or 6. The chapters until then will likely be for the development of Boze's mindset going into the night, and I assure you that they will be interesting. If anyone reads this story, please do not hesitate to write a comment on your thoughts.
