SAVANNAH

The sun is slowly creeping its way out of the horizon, painting the monochrome sky with hues of color. I just laid there for hours without getting any decent sleep. How can I even get a wink of sleep after what transpired last night? It wasn't even supposed to happen and yet it did. I feel so stupid for letting things go out of hand. It wasn't supposed to end this way. This will only make things more complicated than it already is.

The clock on the nightstand said its fifteen minutes past five in the morning. Two more hours before my flight to Paris, I should probably get going. As much as possible, I wanted to leave before he wakes up. I felt him stir in his sleep as I tried to wrestle free from his embrace. I picked up my discarded garments on the floor and decided to grab a clean dress shirt from his closet.

"Sav..."

I stiffened as I heard him call my name. Slowly, I turned around and was relieved to find him still peacefully sleeping. Was he dreaming about me? I edged closer to the bed, sat down on the floor and gazed at him. As I brush a lock of hair away from his closed lids, I couldn't help but wonder why we ended up this way. Why did things have to be so messed up? The last thing I wanted to do was to hurt him.

I kissed his forehead, "Bye, Kuya"; I took one last glance at him and left.

As the plane took off, I tried to convince myself that I just did what I think is best for both of us. I should just forget about last night. He wasn't even sober when it happened. Maybe he won't even remember a thing. And even if he does, it won't change the fact that I'm at the top of his hate list. Besides, it's not like I'll be seeing him anytime soon. I'll deal with the consequences if I ever get to see him again. I need time for myself. I need to get away from everything. I hope that in time everything will be okay. In time, I hope he forgives me.
