As a refresher, here is a recap of what has happened so far in this book.

Sandler Jacobson is crushed by the realization that his true love, Elizabeth a.k.a. Lizzie, has started dating his best friend, Lloyd.

Sandler has a sister and two parents who have to work night shifts to keep the family going.

He also soon notices that he has the power to see the world in his sleep; this process is called a dreamscape.

Sandler soon shows his other best friend, George Whitaker, his powers over a dreamscape, using George's invention, The Dream Machine.

The different boy soon realizes that he is not alone in these powers when he meets Frederick, a twenty-three-year-old man.

Frederick has been told that his parents were dead by his foster parents, The Williams.

Frederick and Sandler soon meet another dreamscaper, named Bob, an old man who claims to be Elizabeth's biological father.

Bob will do anything but kill to get to her. He reveals that his true daughter is Lizzie. Frederick, George, and Sandler have no idea which Elizabeth it is.

Bob tells Frederick that Sandler's powers are stronger than theirs combined, because Sandler has the power capacity to make anything happen in dreams or in real life. Bob and Frederick can only make anything happen in their dreams, but not control the mental powers of beings.

Sandler soon learns how to control his powers in dreams, but not real life.

Bob knows how to control Frederick, George, and anyone else, except Sandler. Sandler can protect a human from Bob by just touching them.

To get closer to Lizzie, Sandler agrees to audition for the school's production of First Date. Lizzie is hoping to get Casey. Lloyd and Sandler hope to get Aaron.

Bob makes Frederick and George's hearts stop beating, but both of them soon gets their hearts beating again.

Sandler, Frederick, and George start a group called the Consciousness. Their headquarters is Frederick's creepy house in the forest along with the Dream Machine. The group is established to find out who Elizabeth is and protect her against the unpredictable Bob.

In more relatable news, Lizzie breaks up with Lloyd, because she thinks eighth-grade relationships are ridiculous.
