Dead... or so they thought

Ch 4. Rebecca's pov

RINGGGGG

Startled I jump, I reach into my back pocket and grab my phone.

Caller Id: Crystsls mom

"Hello?"

"Rebecca? Rebecca! Please come over. Now," her moms distressed voice cried.

"Bella? Calm down please? What's wrong! Is crystal ok?" 

"No! She's gone," was all I heard before she sobbed loudly and hung up.

Now on full alert I jump up from my desk and grab my shoes.

"BECKY!!! CRYSTALS HOUSE! NOW," I screamed as I ran out the door.

Seconds later she came running with her shoes in hand. I took off in the direction of crystals house. Becky caught up fast, she was on the track team with crystal while I was a volleyball player.

 We reached her house within minutes and burst in the door without knocking. 

"Bella? Mrs. Roberts? Where are you," Becky called into the house.

Suddenly I see a police officer walk out of the Kitchen looking grim. 

"Oh my gosh is everything alright," I ask worriedly.

Crystals mom, Bella, walks out from behind him. I gasped. She had puffy red eyes, and tear stains on her cheeks. Becky and I run to her and embrace her. She was like our second mother so we were both quite protective of her.

"What's wrong? Are you ok,"  I ask, scared of her answer.

"Why don't you young ladies come into the kitchen and we'll explain," the police officer suggests.

We nod and follow him through the doorway. 

"What the f-" Becky starts.

"-rick?!?!!" I finish.

Right in the middle of the kitchen floor is a massive blood stain. There was three police officers taking samples and cleaning up the dried crimson spot.

"Please sit. We have a lot to discuss." The police man starts dramatically.

"I can't believe it," I say through tears.

Becky just sobs louder into Bella's shirt. Bella let's a few tears drip as she tried  to stay strong.

"We are doing everything we can to track the killer," the police man, whose name is mark, states.

"Please," I plead. " hurry. Hurry and bring in this horrible person." 

"We will do our best," he promises.

After that they say they'll be back for questioning and leave us.

As soon as the door closes we burst. Our tears flow freely and our cries echo in the silently empty house. As we clutch it each other we sink to the floor, unable to stand anymore. After a few hours of crying we dry our eyes. And hug wordlessly.

With unfallen tears still lingering in my eyes I get up and go to the freezer and get ice cream.

I pass it out and we pick at it in silence. 

Becky called our boyfriends zach and river and they show up in ten mins.

The second they walk in we start crying again. Bawling into their shirts while they try to comfort us in vain.

"Please stay. I can't bear to stay here alone," Bella begs depressed.

"Of course, " we agree in unison.
