Chapter 11 - Welcome to the Family

~~~ Yang's PoV ~~~

As I stand here looking at (Yn) and Ruby, I sink to my knees. "What happened," I ask. I can feel my eyes tearing up.

(Yn) brushes Ruby's hair off her face. "It's my fault. I was attacked by people from my past, and Ruby got pulled into the fray."

He moves the shoulder of her dress out of the way. We see bite marks in her shoulder. It's covered in blood and very messy looking.

"Bite marks? I thought you said you were attacked by people?"

(Yn) looks up from Ruby. "Velvet, Coco, Yatsu, Fox. Would you come over here please." They walk past me and stand behind him. "Yang, you live in a world of men and monsters, you know this right?"

I nod and touch Ruby's cheek. It feels like there's fire under her skin. "Yeah, the White Fang and the Grimm. That's what the schools and huntsmen are for."

"Yes, but there's another world of monsters, monsters that hide in human form." He looks down at my sister. And when (Yn) looks back up his eyes are blood red. "And I'm one of those monsters, Yang. I'm what you would call a vampire"

I'm shocked by (Yn)'s confession. A monster, him? He couldn't hurt a fly let alone attack another person. Yet I look around and see the carnage surrounding us. It explains why he's covered in blood.

"Then what's wrong with Ruby? Is she going to be something like you?"

(Yn) shakes his head. "No, the men who attacked us weren't vampires. They were werewolves, more specifically lycans, so they don't need the moon to change."

"S-so Ruby's gonna be a monster? Is there a cure?"

"There is no cure, but I can keep her safe."

Based on the look on his face, I must look confused. "What do you mean?"

"Based on past research I've done, werewolves and lycans are like the watchdogs of vampires. Ruby would've belonged to the vampire controlling Darius."

(Yn) gestures to the guy with his heart ripped out. "But since I killed him, she doesn't have a pack. I can take her under my wing and protect her. Is this okay with you?"

I look at Ruby, she's breath but asleep. She looks so peaceful, like a red themed angel. "Yes, if you can keep her safe, then do it. But I want to be there with her. If she's gonna be a monster, then so am I."

His eyes go wide. "Yang, do you have any idea what that means? To be a vampire means you're constantly hungering for blood. You'll try to attack your friends, your family. Are you sure that's what you want?"

I nod and move my scarf out of the way. "Is it going to hurt?"

(Yn) hands Ruby to Yatsuhashi. "Yes, but not as much as you'd think." He turns to Velvet and Coco. He tells Coco to call the mistress and Velvet to call a car. They do as he says and he walks over to me.

"Not here, we're too exposed and it's almost noon." (Yn)'s voice calms and it sounds so soothing. "I'll do it back at Beacon, where I'm more prepared."

~~~ (Yn)'s PoV ~~~

I stand in front Yang as she sits on my bed. I had Velvet, Coco, and the rest take Ruby to Glynda. She's going to explain all this to Ruby when she comes to. I look at Yang, she's visibly shaken by my presence.
