Rain is pouring down, grey with smoke and stark cruelty as it soaks my thin red sailors coat. I duck my head and jog under the nearest awning of the blacksmiths shop across from"Saint Julies Hospital" I'm heading there to see my lovely daughter Alexis, And of course my new daughter, Katie I can't help but smile, as just the thought of seeing her pushes all fear, and doubt from my mind.
As I'm about to step out from under the overhang.I feel a hand my shoulder, it grabs me and spins me around to see a fearsome sight; a tall man, with greasy dirty blonde hair sticking out from under his old fashioned Captains hat, red eyes peering out from above a mustache and beard that'd make a Jew jealous, covering the better of half of his grimy striped shirt, and black torn jeans with long leather boots to match. "There yea are, ya thief'n bilge rat" he said in a gravelly voice as he spat a long stream of brown tobacco juice onto the cobblestones.
"I'm sorry, you must have me confused with someone else." I say confused "I know it's you Doctor, James Berrie, you let off with my grandmother's diamond ring, the one that now sits on your wife's finger, and do you know the penalty where I'm from for thievery?! you lose more then a finger!" he said as he grabbed my arm and twisted it. "I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about I found that ring in a small box on Cast Away cove! I was part of the crew that discovered it! "sorry Doc. but I don't believe you, boys." two men walked out of the shadows and grabbed me and pulled a cloth bag over my head then hit me with something heavy and I screamed for my daughters, "Alexis, Katie!"they hit me again and everything faded to nothingness.
