A/N: AHHHHH FINALLY! Another chapter to this action thriller! I'm so sorry for the delay of uploading this, I've just been busy with work and college and well, life in general. I hope y'all enjoy though!
~~~~~~~~A sweet escape can be anything to anyone. A vacation that's so outrageously expensive that you are pretty much forced to have the time of your life, a simple day with the one you think will be your "happily ever after," or even a day of just lazying around. Yet for me, mine wasn't so peaceful or relaxing to others. My sweet escape was the sweet hum of a car's engine after I was done fixing it up, the way it roared to life when speeding down the highway. And let's be honest, no one could fix a car better than me. Not to be cocky, but I was a god when it came to fixing up automobiles. Yeah, a god covered in oil and rust by the time my job was done, but still no doubt a god.
"And the engine hums like a bird. There was a slight transmission issue though, but I fixed that right up without the charge." I spoke slowly, a set of keys resting in my hand before I tossed them to a brute of a man. Dark hair, dark eyes, characteristics of a stranger that I wouldn't recall later. He caught them with ease, a small grin taking hold of his lips as he peered down at me, most likely thinking my small stature didn't accommodate for fixing up cars like his.
"It looks beautiful as well. How much do I owe you for this fixer upper." He questioned, eying me once more before looking to his vehicle. He must have noticed that I also polished its exterior, but there was a reason for that. When he had brought that car in at the beginning of the week, I had never had such anxiety in witnessing an automobile in such shitty condition. Honestly, shitty condition. It looked like he had driven it through a cow field and didn't even bother cleaning it up. And the stench it brought? Absolutely horrifying.
Glancing at the beautiful job I had achieved, I glanced back at the brute before offering a smile. "All payment is settled in the office with my father. And don't worry, I already told him not to charge you for the transmission fix."
A thank you or a nod of appreciation didn't come from the man who came to me to help his precious car. Instead he merely looked at me like I wasn't of use to him before exiting the garage and heading to the office. Had he expected me to charge him nothing because he may have been slightly attractive? Probably, after all most of my male customers usually expected the same treatment. However when it comes to being a mechanic, I'm a business woman, not a hormonal teenager.
"Son of a bitch better learn some manners or I'll-"
"Or you'll what, mechanic girl?" A familiar voice sounded from behind me, causing me to slightly jump in surprise.
Fuck.
Let's just say this, I wasn't ready for him to be here. Not yet that is. Yeah, I've been stuck in the friend zone for years and he just started dating Stacy, but even so I still got butterflies when I was around him. I still got anxious and had thoughts like "maybe this is my chance," but I always know I'm out of my damn mind.
"Or I'll teach him a thing or two about manners." I drew out bluntly, turning until my eyes got caught with his dreamy green pair. For fucks sake, I wished he'd stop looking at me so that I could get over him a lot more quicker. "I didn't expect you to come until later like usual."
"Yeah, I was going to come a bit later but why not now? Besides, maybe I just wanted to see you a bit sooner." He mused, giving me his oh so famous smile. Shit, that smile was a panty dropper.
Huh...maybe I was a hormonal teenager when in the work place.
It took all my will power to ignore his last comment, all my will power to stop the heated blush from taking over my cheeks. As long as I had known Jasper, he was one that simply lived to tease girls, especially the ones he wasn't interested in. Of course, I was among that group of girls, so there's no point in me getting flustered in a few words that held no meaning. So instead, I simply grabbed my tool belt off of one of the stools scattered about the garage before looking back to the ginger boy before me, averting his gaze. "Let's take a look at your car."
