Chapter Two

The dream had occurred just the other night. The dream with the whimpering blonde,  hazel eyed woman and the letter- the dream that spoke of his powers within the contents of the dream letter. Everything had changed, yet at the same time, nothing at all had changed. The world was exactly as it had always been. Children still went to school, young adults still went to college, and parents still went to work. The only thing that changed was realizing that he, Alexander Chance, did indeed have the magic of his Native American Indian ancestors. That was really a big enough change as it was. Still, he had the every day obligations of his once completly normal life. And one of those such obligations was high school.

Alexander was in his second semester of sophmore year of high school. He went to the battered, run down, fifty some year old high school better known as Columbus High. Today was final exam day yipee he thought bitterly to himself. A normal school day is as follows for Alexander.

Algebra 1a with Mr. Benz in room 111
Geography with Mrs. Harrison in room 35
English 10a with Mr. Ursela in room 110
Lunch
P.E. Gym with Ms. Hightower
Japanese Beginners with Ms. Jones in room 21

Yet, on that particular day of final exams it was not a normally sceduled day. He still had all five classes, but they were all after lunch in the afternoon. He had his English and Algebra final exams in the morning. He was terrified to even begin his day after all he'd been slacking lately and he had not studied like he normally did.

Today, he kinda looked forward and kinda did not look forward to the bus ride to school. His rather short friend Tony Dubies always rode the morning bus with him. Alex was terrified that his friend would somehow be able to notice the magic he now had within himself. Mortals though at times see magic in their everyday lives and they just think it odd and nothing more, and they go about their day as though they were just imagining what they had just seen.

Alex went to the kitchen after showering and getting dressed, and made himself a bowl of maple and brown sugar oatmeal. He wolfed it down, and then went out the kitchen door and walked on the sidewalk past the driveway to the bus stop. It seemed like forever for the bus to finally show up at the driveway, but in reality it was only five minutes.

"Errrrrrrrttttttt."

The bus made that noise as it came to a complete stop at his bus stop. Alex as always was the only one there at the bus stop. You'd think there would be more kids and teenagers at the bus stop having lived where he did. Afterall, Alex lived in an urban suburb, and not some middle-of-no-where rural country home. Still, Alex didn't mind as it meant there was less of a chance of someone sitting next to his best friend Tony.

Alex got into the bus, and no one was sitting beside his friend so he just plopped down next to his friend.

"Hey, man. What's up?" Alex said, smiling from ear to ear.

Tony ruffled his carrot orange, messy hair before answering Alex.

"Oh nothing mu..."

A bolt of what looked like white lightning shot out from Alex's palms, and hit the front window of the bus causing the bus to swerve a little. No damage was done except to Alex's psyche. Alex was mortified his cheeks turned bright, bright red.

"What was that??? Did you see that??? That'd have to be the coolest static electricity that I have ever seen in my fifteen short years of life. It had to be static electricity, right?" Tony said, eagerly.

"Yes, I did see and feel that. Yeah it was just static electrity I'm sure." Alex lied his heartbeat racing as he said it.

Soon, however, Alex noticed they were getting close to school. Alex hoped and prayed that there would be no other mishaps of his powers. For that matter why did his powers manifest so suddenly, and why now??? Also did the dream woman have anything to do with it all? And was dream woman really connected to the wolf he had seen ten days ago in the woods? Alex was positive it was all connected.

Alex and Tony then began chatting normal, boring things, and the lightning incident was soon forgotten. Finally, after ten to fifteen minutes of bus ride the yellow beast of a bus pulled into the run down school known as Columbus High.

"Bye, Tony." Alex called out to his friend as Tony left.

"Yep. Bye, bye. Good luck on your final exams for math and english." Tony yelled out as he looked over his shoulder to Alex.

Great. Another day of torture. Another day of Hell. And to make it worse I'm a living, breathing freak with magic. Alex thought to himself as he walked into his school.
