Prompt: Ivy meets Harley's new girlfriend which is you

"Now puddin', did ya remember that Red is comin' over this afternoon?" Harley asked you. You gave her a reassuring smile.

"Of course I did Harl. I know how important it is to you. I wouldn't forgot." She looked relieved and pulled you in for a tight hug.

"Good because I really want my best friend and my girlfriend to get along well. Red doesn't tend ta...like the people I get in relationships with." She was referring to the Joker and you rubbed her back.

"Harl, I'm nothing like him. I take care of you as best as I can and hopefully she'll see that I am actually good for you," you said. You were doing your best to reassure Harley but deep down you had never been more nervous. Poison Ivy was well known for her hate of humans, with Harley being an exception, and not to mention how protective she could be of Harl. She had every right to be considering how Harley had been treated in the past but you just hoped she would see that you weren't like that. You wanted to look after Harley, not hurt her like he had. Harley snuggled into your shoulder a little more and smiled up at you.

"Ok. I'm sure she'll grow ta like ya but it may take a little while and she can be moody from time ta time," Harley pointed out. You nodded.

"I understand. Come on, we better get the place ready for when she comes over."

After the two of you made sure the place looked fine, Ivy had come round exactly on time and you were now all sitting (pretty awkwardly) together whilst Harley attempted to start conversations.

"So um Red how's things at ya greenhouse?" Harley asked.

"Fine," Ivy replied simply, not taking her eyes off of you even for a second. You swallowed hard and tried not to show your discomfort but it was hard when her piercing green eyes were practically staring into your soul. She was trying to work you out, see if you really planned to look after Harley or if you had bad intentions. Whilst you expected that, it completely surpassed all expectations of how uncomfortable it was going to make you feel. She paused to sip her drink that you had made her and went back to staring at you. Harley stared down at her own empty glass and took this as an opportunity to leave the awkward situation and stood up.

"Looks like I better get a refill," she said brightly and started walking to the kitchen. You stared at her with wide, pleading eyes, internally begging her not to leave you alone with the crazy redhead sitting next to you but she ignored your silent cries for help and continued to walk away. The door shut behind her and you and Ivy were completely alone. You gulped, looked down at your fingernails and unsuccessfully tried to ignore Ivy.

"So," Ivy finally spoke, making you jump a little as you looked up. "You really love Harl?" You nodded quickly.

"I do."

"What do you love about her?" she questioned.

"Everything! She's beautiful and funny and always makes me happy. Please Ivy, I do love her and I wouldn't hurt her," you insisted. It was really important to you too that she would like you.

"Good. Because I may not have had my way with HIM yet, but you are certainly no match for me. My vines could strangle you in seconds, taking all the breath out of your body, if I ever found out you laid so much as a finger on her! Understood?" she snapped, starting to get angry even though you had not attempted to hurt Harley yet. It scared you and you nodded quickly. "Good." She tossed her long red hair out of her face, finished her drink and stood up to go.

"W-Where are you going?" you asked, still sounding nervous from her threats.

"Back home. My babies will be needing water, along with my love and care," she said simply.

"But you didn't even say goodbye to Harl..." You trailed off, not thinking arguing with Poison Ivy was the best idea, especially now you witnessed first hand how easy her temper flared up.

"She will understand." Her responses were short and you didn't want her to leave just yet. You grabbed her arm, causing her to turn round and stare at your hand with an amused look. "Are you sure you want to do that? My skin can secrete a toxin that will go into your hand and poison you, killing you within minutes." She smirked as you quickly let go of her and backed away a little. "That's what I thought. You can't ever stop me from doing something (Y/N). Remember that," she commented and started to walk away. "Also, look after Harl or you will regret it. You know what I can do." After pausing to add a final warning, she left. But as she walked away, you were sure she sent a smile over her shoulder at you. Maybe she didn't hate you as much as you thought.

Harley returned after getting a fresh drink and immediately pouted after seeing Ivy had gone. "Red left already?" You nodded slowly.

"Yes. I think she needed to tend to her plants." You didn't mention the threat.

"Without even giving me a goodbye hug?" Harley sighed and then looked back up at you. "I'm sorry for how she acted today (Y/N). She gets in bad mood sometimes....most of the time...kinda all the time," Harley realised. You took one last look out of the window at Ivy's figure, disappearing into the distance, and smiled softly.

"It's ok. I think she just had a point to prove. We'll be ok now."

A/N - Surprise! I haven't completely abandoned this book and I still absolutely love Harley, although I am really into Gotham at the moment. For anyone else who is, I have a Barbara Kean book up on my account that you should check out and for anyone who loves this chapter and is a fan of Ivy, I have a Harlivy book up too! I hope I still have some readers here on this book and the Harley Quinn fandom has not died, even though Suicide Squad isn't popular anymore like it used to be. Love you all, thanks for your continued support during my hiatus while I moved from college to a sixth form  and have been really ill over the past months. Please don't give up on this book and comment if you liked this chapter, I want to start doing more regular updates again if people are still reading!
