Chapter THREE
The little girl moved around in my lap, seeming to be restless. I let her go, just in case she wanted to stand up or something. I didn't want her to think she was trapped. And plus, I kind of wanted her to trust me.
She looked up at me, her face so young and vulnerable that it hurt. But she had stopping crying, for now. She was probably in shock, but there was just something in her eyes that made me want to wrap her up, and never let the harshness of this world touch her again.
"What's your name?" she asked, her voice small and quiet, with only a hint of shakiness. It was getting stronger, her voice; she might make it through this without breaking down completely.
"Eliza, my name's Eliza," I replied, a small smile threatening to break through at the look on her face.
"Eliza," she repeated, a faint look of disgust shining in her eyes. And that was better, it almost hid that deep, brokenness that made me want to kill someone. "My name's Heavenly."
I smiled, not even trying to hid it. And a faint hint of rose touched her cheeks as she looked down, clearly embarrassed. It was cute, and the name was really suiting from what I was seeing.
"That's a beautiful name," I told her, tucking her hair back behind her ear. "It's fits you."
"That's what my mom says," she grumbled, looking down. I pulled in a deep breath, already knowing what was coming next. "When can I see her?"
I starred at her, watching the tears glittering at me, and I didn't want to lie. There has been more than enough lying here in this house. But she probably couldn't handle the truth, that she won't be able to see her mom until Tristan and his team cleared her. But maybe I could do this for her. I know Tray-Jay had to be up, he could get the information that I needed but it was going to cost me. He was the best hacker we had, of course he was going to be expensive.
"She'll be waiting for you at the hospital," I said, sighing; already knowing the girls were going to Tristan's hospital. We had a few hospitals scattered around the city, just in case something happens. If you have doctors and nurses that were trained to deal with all of us, they could stop things from getting bad. The hospitals were hidden, like the rest of our world, so no humans wonder into them. When we mix with humans while being hurt, it didn't usually end to well.
Jon was going to be the pain though, he was more for following the rules. He was a lawyer, they were suppose to be able to wiggle the laws around until they confused normal people. But Jon was irritatingly, straight walking the laws, never stepping off on either side. He was the only problem standing in my way of getting Heavenly her mom.
I sighed again, closing my eyes for a second, my head already hurting with the idea of fighting with Jon over Heavenly's mom. I was just going to go around him, I will get bitched at when Jon finds out about it later, but by then there wasn't going to be much he could do.
Maybe I'll be able to go home sooner, but with the way my leg was aching, Tristan was probably going to want to look at it. Maybe I could hide for him, because I really didn't want to go to his hospital. All of the nurses were dicks to me, and with my mood right now, I would probably end up hurting one of them. Yeah, it was best if I just hid everything from him."Do you promise?" she demanded, in that quiet voice of hers.
"I promise," I said, meaning it with everything me. Her mom would be waiting for her at the hospital. I needed to call, and put in a emergency alert. Hopefully, I got patched right through to Jon, that would save all of us a few hours. But first, I had to clear the house.
