It was a cold, misty Thursday morning - a girl sat in the very back of the class, alone. All the other children interacted with one another; told jokes, laughed and played games. It was a normal day.

The lone girl sat reading a book. 'The Adventures of Sabrine', it read. Her unruly red hair hung over her eyes - one would assume it was impairing on her ability to make out what she was reading. The only thing confirming the fact that she could very well see what she was reading, was the thick, round glasses obscuring a large portion of her small face.

She sat on that same spot for the majority of the day, not uttering a sound.
Secluded form the rest if the class.
Rejected.
Isolated.

It was almost maddening watching her. Watching as her emerald eyes skimmed over each word. Her small, plump fingers turn the delicate pages.  The reflection of the words in the book shone on her large lenses. The way she sat hunched over with her freckled nose stuck in the thick book.

It was every teachers dream to have a student like that in the class - a bookworm; someone you could spoil and favour over everyone else. It was also every teachers responsibility to help all their children feel welcome and fit in.

I wanted to, I really did. I wanted to be that type of teacher. I wanted to help her, maybe become someone she could open up to - so that she wouldn't look as lonely and pathetic as she did. Perhaps the constant bulling would have ceased if I had.

But I never, ever did anything of the sort.

Six years later, the girl began her second year of middle school. She had really grown from when she was younger - her looks become more defined, sharper, more feminine.

She was what one refered to as 'unordinary'. Someone who never fit in anywhere, never did what others could and would. An outcast.

She had a simple lifestyle - come to school and go to class, sit at her desk and study until the teacher decides to make an entrance. Answer questions only when asked (which was rarely) and ignore almost everyone around her.

One thing that seemed to constantly follow her throughout the years was the unwelcoming and abusive behaviour her peers had towards her.
Wherever she went, criticism was never far behind.

This was how she lived.

Unordinarily.
