I stood there, my back to the door, trying to calm my breathing. I knew this couldn't possibly be real, but I had to confirm that she was actually here. So I take a deep breath, turn around, and open the door.
And there she was. Just standing there. As soon as she heard the door, she put on this huge smile that I'd never seen from her before. I look at her, shocked into silence, when I realize that it's almost freezing outside. I quickly open the screen door and let her inside. Once she got herself situated, I grabbed her shoulders, just to make sure she was really there. She looks at me, weirded out for a second, then realizes that I had just seen her ghost a few hours ago. I pull her into a huge hug, just like the old days, and I can tell she's still shocked into silence and frozen. And I just stay like that. Hoping she'll embrace me back, just like back then.

As soon as I stepped inside the home of the physical ghost Derek's old home, Jake pulls me into a tight hug again, just like back then. At first, I had forgotten we had done that before, then realize why he was doing it, so I hug him back. We stand there for a few minutes, relishing the other and thanking the angels that we could be reunited again. I hear footsteps coming down the hallway, but I ignore it, figuring it was Jake's parents.
I was right. As soon as they saw me and Jake there, their eyes widened, and slowly, they walk back the way they came. I smile, knowing they were freaked out by me being there. Jake hadn't noticed them come in, so I don't say anything. After a few more minutes, he finally loosens his grip, and I release mine just enough so we can look each other in the eyes again. His blue depths hadn't changed at all, though they did seem a little dimmer, but I ignored it for the time being. He smiled down at me, as he had grown taller over the few months I had been gone. I can see a slight pink tint on his cheeks, but I know exactly why, now. He pulled me back in for an even tighter hug, telling me through his actions he'd never let me go again. But now, time for business.
