JungkookSeconds tick away like nothing.
Minutes fade into oblivion.
And with the passing of days, memories build to fill up the empty spots of your mind. I sat in the fifth chair of a row of plastic seats stuck against the wall. The grey station was boring me half to death and I couldn't even leave. The questioning room down the hall continued to stay sealed off; the door hadn't opened since we got here. I was beginning to think they would just let us go, but that would be stupid if they did. After all, this was a pretty big crime.
I leaned my head back until my skull kissed the chipped wall. My eyelids closed slowly following the soft echo of a familiar voice.
"I love you, Jung..."
"Jeon Jungguk!" I stood, my light brown hair shifting slightly with my sudden movements. The officer continued, "Come with me."
I followed, my fingers tapped against the rips on my jeans. I could feel a patch of skin on my thighs with every step. When we entered the small, secluded room lit dimly by a soft light fixture, it was filled with only a small table and two chairs opposite one another. I took a seat, sliding the chair in closer to the table. The metal soles of the chair's legs scratched up the tiled floor emitting a loud screech. The officer was suddenly joined by a comrade who whipped out some crime photos. The officer who just slid the brutal photos in front of me spoke, his badge said Lee. "Jungguk-"
"Sir, can you call me Jungkook?" I asked.
He breathed sharply through his nose, "Jungkook, can you please take a look and identify the body in these photos."
I nodded, my dark eyes shifting down to the prints. Each photo was bloody and messy. A body sprawled on a floor of some sort. The person's eyes wide open with a thin trail of blood dripping from the corner of his parted lips. White hair matted with blood and sweat. I sighed, "Yeah, that's him."
"We need you to tell us everything you know," officer Lee continued.
"Everything?" I questioned. I was in the middle of this whole situation, but I certainly didn't know everything.
The other officer in the room opened his mouth this time, "From the beginning."
I let out a soft chuckle, "Well... on a cold winter night. my parents decided to procreate-"
"Okay smart ass, cut the bullshit. This is a serious case and we need to know everything and anything you can tell us," Officer Tuan was becoming agitated.
"Can you two be a little more specific?" I scoffed.
"When did you meet your little group of friends?"
I took a moment to think back to my first friendship, "Back in grade school... Kim Taehyung. He's two years older than me, but for certain reasons he started school late so we were in the same class. And a few years later we met Park Jimin, Min Yoongi, and Jung Hoseok."
"What about Kim Seokjin and Shin Hoseok?"
"We didn't meet Seokjin until first year of high school; Jin was a senior at the time but we kept in contact after school. And Wonho..."
"Wonho?"
"Yeah.. that was the name his little group gave him. We met Wonho in middle school."
I noticed officer Lee jotting down notes on a pad of paper and then his eyes met mine again. He spoke lowly, "What was your relationship with Ren Konizawa?"
A flicker of light sparked in my eyes, I could feel it.
"I love you, Jung."
My knuckles turned white from how hard I clenched my fists. Ren... "My relationship?" I asked myself. I met glances with the officers and nodded slightly, "I was in love with her."
