I chase Nate up the stairs and into Cassie's bedroom.
"Nate? You can't do stuff like that to me and get away with it." I sing song. He was hiding.
My head snapped to a pile of blankets on the bed. I smiled to myself.
Slowly, I stepped over to the bed. As soon as I pull the cover back, I'm pulled into Nate's chest. I'm laying on top of him, staring into his beautiful brown eyes.
"Found you." I whisper.
Nate smiles and his eyes move to my lips. He puts his hand on my thigh and bites his lip.
"C-can I kiss you?" He asks, his eyes hooded.
I nod slowly and soon feel his lips against mine.
His other hand moves to the small of my back and I place both of my hands on either of his cheeks.
I pull back after a few minutes and smile at him. I move my hand to his hair and twirl it between my fingers.
"Nate?" I ask.
"Yeah?"
"I love you."
"I love you too." He wraps his arms around my body and hugs me. I hug him back.
The two of us walk back downstairs.
"I finished making the hot chocolate." Cassie says, carrying three large black cups on a tray and sitting it down on the coffee table.
Nate and I sit on the couch, both of us reaching for a mug.
Cassie sits in the love seat, her long legs folded beneath her. Her mug poised inches from her mouth, staring intently at Nate and I.
"What?" I ask.
"You and Nate are cute." She says, sipping her cocoa.
"Who said we were together?" I shrug, staring into my cup. I would love to be with Nate, but until the baby is here, it doesn't seem right to be with him.
"It's obvious there's a connection."
"Yeah. I guess." I say. I look to Nate who is intently sipping his hot chocolate. He turns and looks at me. I look back to Cassie.
Nate speaks up. "Mills. I would be so happy to be with you, but I think it would be good to figure things out with Derek."
I nod. "I know. So, why don't we get this day going?"
Nate and Cassie nod and I sit my cup down. I pull myself up from the couch and grab Nate's hand.
"Pillows. And. Blankets. P-pillows and blankets!" I sing, going upstairs and dragging every soft thing I could find.
Nate follows me and grabs more blankets. Cassie and Nate move the coffee table carefully, making room for the fort we are going to build.
After 10 minutes, we get our fort made. We put the puzzles and things in the fort. Nate, Cassie and I laugh for hours. We play games, drink hot chocolate, watch tv. Even Nate loved it. I could tell he did because of the way his eyes lit up.
It was around 6 o'clock when Nate wanted to take me for a walk. It just stopped raining.
"The smell after it rains is amazing." I say, grabbing Nate's hand.
"I can agree with you on that." Nate says, interlocking our fingers.
As we walk, I lay my head against his shoulder.

Short update. I know. I'm sorry for not updating in a while. Also, when I get stuck on transitions, I end chapters short, so that's why some chapters aren't very long. I hope you enjoyed this update. Next update coming sometime this week ❤️
