we were shades of purple, of pink. lilac, lavender, magenta, the shades of a breathtaking sunset i can vaguely remember from a hazy night laying on the beach. you turned my entire world blue. blue, the colour of endless summer skies, of a rushing river, a furious ocean. to most blue is the colour of sad, but to me its the feeling of freedom, of bliss. i was simply beige, the colour of sand, the colour that makes you think of a dry, painful summer. but when i was with you, i became a rich mocha, a burning amber, a smooth kobicha. i became something. before i was nothing, but with you i had colour, i had worth. i became something other than a boring and bland beige.
you painted a deep, dark night bright blue, a rainy day vibrant shades of teal.
and with every night you failed to text back, to answer a skype call, things began to fade back to grey.
by the time you were gone, everything was back to a hazy glaucous, and i slowly forgot what blue even felt like.
