You were running out of time. You had to find him and you had to do it fast. You willed your legs to go faster but the burn was too much. Collapsing to the ground, you lay in the leaves catching your breath. This wasn't the first time you had run for him. It certainly wouldn't be the last. Rising to your feet, you propelled yourself through the darkness, leaves crunching underfoot as you raced. Your heart hammered in your chest, your nerves were wrecked. You were running out of time. It was almost too late.

Sat beneath the large tree, you watched as everyone finished for the summer. The look of relief on peoples faces as the stress of the school year drew to a close. The breeze ran with the excitement of the summer, thick and sweet. You scanned the crowd, looking for those that knew you inside out. Your friends, your family. The people who had been there for you throughout all your bad days and your good days. Scott walked hand in hand with Kira, the power couple of the group. The Alpha pup and the girl with the electric smile. Lydia walked with Malia, their arms linked and cheeks flushed with red. Grins on everyone's faces as they walked to you. Someone was missing. The boy with freckles in constellations on his face and warmth behind his eyes. Those same eyes connected with yours as he left the building, his long legs bounding up to you. You stood and he lifted you with ease, swinging you around with his arms around your waist. Laughter filled the air and the feeling that the summer had just begun started to sink in.
As you sat back down, Stiles ran his arm around you, pulling you against him. Kira sat curled into Scotts lap and Lydia and Malia sat cross legged absentmindedly making daisy chains. "So what shall we do tonight guys?" You spoke gently content in stiles' embrace. "Shall we go to the lake? My mom said we could use the lake house as long as we don't scratch up the place like last time!" Lydia said throwing her daisies at Malia. "Sounds like a plan to me guys, how about we all go get some stuff and meet there about 6?" Scott suggested. That gave you a while with Stiles alone. "Sure!" You responded. Everyone stood up waving goodbye as they all went to their cars whilst you stayed beneath the large tree. Standing Stiles left your body, reaching out his hands to pull you up and lead you to his jeep. The color was fading having been bleached by the sun over many summers, both good and bad memories peppered the inside. Pulling you closer to him he pushed you against the jeep, his hands dancing over your waist as his mouth found yours. Soft and insistent, he kissed you your fingers entangling in his hair. The hot metal struck against your skin, making you wince as it singed the skin on your bare legs.
He stopped as he felt you recoil, quick to find your face and cup it and search for an answer of what was wrong in your eyes. A smile spread across his cheeks creating craters for dimples. Opening the passenger side door, he bowed like a true gentleman emitting a goofy chuckle the whole time. He made it so easy to love him as he always made you laugh. Climbing in his side he struggled to turn the engine on flopping over the steering wheel in exasperation. You dropped out the car grabbing the duct tape and popping the hood just like he had taught you months ago. You fiddled with things you didn't understand, but you played it like you were a mechanic or some sort of expert. "Babe, can you come hold this for me?" You shouted as you held a large piece of engine. He was at your side in an instant. "Yes m'lady anything for you" He responded in the worst british accent you'd ever heard. Taking the engine part from you, he mocked a lack of strength and collapsed to the floor. "Help me, it's too strong! Can't. Breat-" he joked. You took it from him and he looked at you with pure shock. "Have you ever thought about being a weightlifter? Cause that's seriously heavy!" You couldn't help but laugh as you put everything back in its place secured with another million layers of duct tape.
Starting the jeep again, he drove you to your house his fingers laced with yours. Leaning over to place a kiss on his cheek you made plans to drive together to the lake. Running inside you collapse in your bed thoughts of tonight running amok in your mind. Packing your bag, you text Stiles telling him you're ready when he is. Not even 10 minutes later he was at your door, the same grin as earlier still plastered over his face. You two got into the jeep and miraculously it started first time. You drove in comfortable silence, only music filling where the words should be. You wound your window down, leaning your head out into the breeze smelling the change in the air from earthy to crisp. The sun was still blaring when you got to the lake, pulling your stuff out the back seat. Kira ran up to you, making you drop your bag. "You've got to see this! Come on slowpoke!" She said excitedly dragging you along beside her. When you saw the canopy though your breath escaped your chest.
