     I'm dreaming.
     I'm all alone.
     I'm strapped to a wall.
     I scream, no one comes.
Then, two figures appear. One tall,
     the other abnormally tall.
I scream at them to leave me alone.
     They come closer.
     Closer....
     Closer still-

"JOSLYN!" I jumped, sitting up in my chair. "W-w-what?" My best friend Summer laughed. "C'mon, Jos, how can you sleep on a day like today?" I scoffed, still leaning back in my seat. "I don't understand what all the hype is about."

Summer gasped, like I just said the most racist comment in the world. "It's the solar eclipse, Joslyn!" She said, shaking my shoulders. "How are you not excited?! We're taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime experience! They only happen once every 100 years!!"

Summer has been my best friend since eighth grade. We're now sophomores in high school, and we couldn't be any closer. We're telepathic, almost. It's crazy. We're like sisters. We need each other to survive. We were currently in our last period-an advanced mixed singing choir-and it was nearing time for the solar eclipse to happen.

I groaned at my short friend, pushing the blonde away from me for a moment as I stood to my feet. "Whoa, are you okay?" I look up to see Alex, me and Summer's demi-sexual friend. She's a freshmen. She doesn't have many friends, so we took her under our wing, and we haven't regretted it yet. She's crazy like us, and has seen....things...like me and Summer have.

And by things, I mean the paranormal. Spirits, ghosts.....
Demons.
Now, I know it sounds crazy. Demons? They aren't real. Trust me, friend, they're more real than the device you're reading this on. And they're deadly. Very deadly.

And I should know....

I'm snapped awake-literally-by Alex, who was vigorously snapping her fingers in front of my eyes. "W-w-what?" I asked. "You spaced out!" Summer said, waving her arms frantically. "You need to stop doing that!" She squeaked. "I know..." I sighed. "It's happening more than usual. I wonder...." I hummed, putting a hand on my chin. "What? What is it?" Alex asked, tilting her head. I shook my head. "Never mind. It's impossible." I muttered, sliding away from my friends for a moment. If I was doing this, it was serious.

Summer followed me into my corner of solitude. I sulked, hugging my knees and hiding my face in my hands. "Joslyn..." Summer sighed. "What's wrong?" This made me sign into my hands. "I....headache." I responded shortly. "O-oh..." She mumbled. "You okay?" I shrugged. " 'm fine."

Summer huffed, not buying it. The intercom beeps on. 'At this time, all fine arts classes, make their way to the football field for the solar eclipse'. This made Summer squeal and do a spin, giggling. "That's us! Let's go!" Summer grabbed me and Alex, bolting out of the door.
