Early September
Eleanor frowned. She sat at a table decorated in blue surrounded by laughter and smiling, and honestly, this wasn't the worst thing in the world and she should have been at least a little happy, content maybe, but if she was being one hundred percent true to herself she couldn't have been more upset. She didn't like this one bit, not at all.
The headmaster, an old man with a long greying beard, had already stood in front of them and given his speech, if you could even call it that. Eleanor was not amused, what kind of a headmaster spoke gibberish at the opening ceremony of another year of boarding school? He stayed at the podium, watching the student break out into chatter, his twinkling eyes scanning the crowd. "Let's eat!" He called out at last, a smile breaking out on his lips, though half hidden behind his beard.
While those around her marveled at the food which had magically appeared in front of them, Eleanor glared. Her eyes lifted from the food and dragged up towards the staff table, narrowing further when they landed on the headmaster. She stared at him with as much hatred as she could muster.
He seemed to realize someone's eyes were on him, as he turned his head away from the teacher sat on his left and scanned up and down the four long tables. His blue eyes landed on Eleanor finally.
She shook her head softly, completely disgusted by this man and his school. She looked away from his blue eyes and they fell down to her hands in her lap. She would not be eating tonight, she had decided. She simply couldn't, consuming this magic food would only enforce the idea of her being magical even more.
So there she sat, fingers fiddling with the school robes she hated so much, stomach rumbling, and frown still on her lips. She ignored the boy beside her when he asked about her eating habits and didn't even look up when the girl across from her asked if something was wrong.
Eleanor was not happy.

At last the meal was finished, food disappearing magically and the headmaster once more taking stance behind the podium. Eleanor looked up at the sound of his voice, her eyes glaring into his as he spoke to the entire room though his eyes held hers for at least half of the speech.
"Ravenclaw first years, follow me!" An older girl hollered out, leading the group away. Eleanor trailed after, glare on her face, making sure to keep a few yards between her and the last of the group she was suppose to be a part of.
She followed the group up to a tower; glaring at the many moving portraits surrounding her, almost refusing to step foot on the moving staircase, and staring in disgust at a talking doorknob. She reluctantly stepped into what would be her dorm room.
The girl who had spoken to her earlier was taking claim to a bed by the window. She looked up, noticing Eleanor still in the doorway, "I know I asked earlier," she hesitated a little, "are you okay? You're acting weird."
Eleanor looked at the girl, and for the first time all night long, her face was blank; void of all emotion, so different from the glares and scowls that had previously taken residence on her face. She walked into the room and took the bed furthest away, sitting in a lonely corner.
She would sort this out in the morning. There was no way she would be staying at this school. Absolutely not.
She wanted nothing more than to be back at home, studying the material she had planned out, living an ordinary life. She did not want to be at a magical school, she wanted to be with her family, not surrounded by these wizards and witches.
Eleanor had her mind set up, she did not want to be a part of this.
