The Winters Chill

Skye's Pov

I woke up to the sound of soft tapping against the window. My eyes fluttered open and I look to my side to see a winter wonderland just outside my window. I got up and tip toed down the stairs and walked into the lodge lobby. It was quiet, and the only sounds present were myself and the snowfall outside. I grabbed my mug of hot chocolate and sat on the gray couch, only to see Sean sitting right next to me. "Morning Beautiful." He said, making my cheeks flush pink before I nuzzled my head into his chest. I listened to the pitter patter of the snow hitting the windows and enjoyed the silence of the empty lobby that morning, since it felt like for once nothing was going on and for once my father wasn't running around the hallways with stress in his voice. "Morning." I finally answered back. I played with Sean's hair and enjoyed the peace and quiet just a little more. All of a sudden it seemed as if the sound barrier was broken and all hell broke loose as Ben, Kaylee, and Noah rushed through the front door followed by my dad coming out of the hallway. " Morning." everyone said almost in a synchronized manner. "I got coffee" shouted Kaylee, followed by Noah talking about all of the things needing to be set up. I broke the chaotic conversation by shouting and grabbing their attention. "Guys! Tomorrow is Christmas Eve! I do not want to work a chaotic day at the lodge surrounded by holiday residents." I said. " Why don't we go do something fun, like stay in the cabin?" Everyone looked at me like I was crazy before continuing to shout and blabber at eachother. "Sean, we should go for a walk." I said, hoping his response would be different than the one I just got right now. "Sure, go get changed." he said. I ran up to my room without hesitation and grabbed a warmer shirt and coat. I ran down the stairs and grabbed my hat and gloves only to spot Sean standing on the steps on the lodge wearing the same. "Let's go!" He said smiling at me with that beautiful damn smile.
We started to walk back where the bike trail is and we stopped at a big tree. We were amazed at all the Christmas lights that were hung around us. I looked at Sean and kissed him passionately only to feel sparks pulsating through my body. I smiled and broke the kiss off, and we continued to walk. "Hold on." I said. "I think I dropped the keys to the lodge back there. Wait here." I said, before taking off in the direction we came from. I found the keys stuck in a pile of snow, and I turned back to where Sean was. The only problem was I forgot exactly where he was. I began to panic and I started calling Sean but I realized I had wandered off too far for him to be able to hear me. I sighed and I began to pace back and forth. It had been 15 minutes and there was still no sight of Sean. I went to grab my phone, but I realized it was back at the lodge. "Help!" I shouted, before sinking down to the ground and leaning against a tree. I began to shiver even worse than before and I felt a sharp pain in my head. I was so cold, from my head to my toe. I started to feel unstable, and everything went black.

Sean's Pov

"Skye! Are you out here?" I shouted in panic. I went back to the lodge and got everyone, so we were all frantically looking for Skye. We thought we looked everywhere until Noah covered his mouth and pointed to a tree in the distance, we ran over to it, only to see a passed out sky that looked horribly pale and nearly frozen. "Skye!" Everyone shouted as I began to feel hot tears in my eyes. I grabbed Skye and wrapped her in my jacket while everyone ran right behind me. Noah opened the lodge doors only to see a confused but shocked Ben standing at the concierge desk "What happened!?" Asked Ben, in absolute panic. Noah ran into the room to get hot tea and heating pads, as kaylee took off Skye's coat and wrapped her in a blanket. "C c c c coldd." said Skye, I'm such a quiet voice she could barely hear herself. I felt a sigh of relief escape from my body as I held sky in my arms by the fire. A few minutes later Skye became more alert and Kaylee helped her into the bathtub.

Skye's Pov

I felt tingly in the hot bubble bath Kaylee put me in. I was weak, but my eyes were open enough to see what was going on. Kaylee was sitting there with me, while everyone else was setting up my bed and turning up the heat. Kaylee took my temperature and my body heat was only 89 degrees. I was so cold, but the thin sheet of ice on my feet was gone and my eyelashes didn't feel so frozen anymore. I got out of the tub and got wrapped in two layers of sweatpants and sweatshirts before I sat down next to Sean by the warm fire. I hugged him and I noticed that once again the lodge seemed quiet. I listened to the sound of the snow on the windows and my soft breathing.
