“Do you love me?” I hear him ask. I am brushing my brown hair in front of my dressing table in my room. My boyfriend, Hunter, is leaning on the wall, with his hands in his pockets, staring at me intently. I brush my soft hair slowly and look at him through the reflection in the mirror. He looks almost like how all rock stars do; lean and fit with their black leather jackets, skinny jeans and black boots. His hair is black and curly. This same dark gaze that has made me weak in the past. It’s like he’s looking into my soul. Like he knows my every thought. I force myself to look away from him and I focus on my face. I continue brushing my hair over my shoulder.
“Of course I do.” I state confidently. “You know I do. Why do you ask?”
He sighs and runs his fingers through his hair. “It’s just that sometimes I get scared that you’ll leave me.” He shakes his head. “I just…I just really love you, okay? I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
He stares at me again with those dark green eyes like summer green leaves. He has this tough boy act going on but deep down he’s really a softy at heart. I smile warmly and walk over to him.
“There are like a gazillion guys out there. But you’re the only one I can do this to.” I kiss him on the lips. “Are you satisfied?” We break into a grin.
“Nadine! Michelle! I’m home!” I hear my aunt yell from outside and I’m startled a bit. You see, my sister and I live with my aunt. I’ve know Aunt Lucie for as long as I’ve lived. She’s my mother’s sister. I never knew my mother; or my father. Aunt Lucie told me they’d died in a car crash. But there’re no pictures of them or anything I could relate to them with.
“Crap, myaunt is here.” I hurry over to the window and see my aunt packing some things into the house. I feel guilty anytime I see her. She looks up at my window and waves.
“A little help, Nadine?” She shouts and grins.
“Why don’t you just tell her?” Hunter asks with a pained look on his handsome face. I shake my head.
“I can’t, you don’t understand my aunt. She is gonna flip if I tell her I'm dating you again.” I sigh heavily and tuck my hair behind my ears. Lucie had met Hunter a year ago when we dated for the first time. They had gotten along very well and she was so fond of Hunter. But when Hunter broke my heart and dumped me for some college chick, Aunt Luciedespised him. It took me like four months to get over Hunter even though I was still deeply in love with him. That was the worst part of my life. Luckily I had Justin; my best friend since childhood. Justin was extremely sweet and took good care of me and I’d forever be grateful to him. Some people even joked that he was in love with me but I knew he wasn’t. He even had a lovely girlfriend called Alison.
“Hey Nadine, Aunt Lucie said I should call you.” My younger sister of a year, Michelle, comes into my room and her eyes widen when she sees Hunter in my room with me. A tiny little smirk spreads across her face. I have to admit, though she’s my sister, Michelle could be a bitch sometimes.
“Well, well, well. What do we have here?” Michelle asks in her mischievous sing-song voice. I frown.
“Michelle, you mustn’t tell our aunt.” I say firmly even though I know that she really wants to. She shrugs and glances at Hunter and then smacks her lip. What cheek! I always suspected that she has a little crush on him. When we broke up, she seemed so relieved and I'm sure she didn’t want us dating again.
“What’s in it for me?” She cocks her little blonde head to the side, her blue eyes blazing naughtily. I furrow my brows.
“What do you mean?” I ask dreading what she’ gonna say.
