I love him but not in that way, I think.

We are in the living room of the Harrisons and if the exterior is exquisite, it can’t be compared to the interior which is absolutely breathtaking.

“Dad, this is my girlfriend, Nadine Bellerose.” Hunter introduces me to his dad. “Nadine, this is my dad. Mr. James Harrison.” I swallow and shake Mr. James’s hands.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Harrison.” Mr. Harrison gives me a hearty laugh. “Please, call me James. I don’t think you’d have a problem with that.” He smirks at me and I wince a bit. He gives me an enigmatic smile and Hunter leaves, probably to bring some drinks for us and I’m left alone with his father. I twiddle my ruby ring on my pinky finger and look nervously around the room. I sneak a peek at Mr. Harrison and see him watching me with interest. Hunter should really come soon or I might combust under this pressure. Gosh, how could I have been so silly?

“Nadine. What a lovely name.” Mr. Harrison declares and crosses his leg, putting the ankle of one over the knee of the other. He looks at ease with himself, a hint of amusement on his charming face. “But I don’t recall you telling me that when we met.” Of course. Would I have told him my real name? I was looking for adventure that night. It was after I had broken up with Hunter and was miserable. I didn’t know it would come back to bite me in the ass.“The thing I do recall is my wallet missing, and if I’m not mistaken, my phone too.” He smirks and I flinch. Do I need to be reminded? I know I acted crazy that night.

“What do you want?” I ask him sharply and he looks taken aback by my outburst but smiles almost immediately.

“Careful peach, you don’t wanna offend me or I might just tell my son about our little tryst.” He half smiles. He wouldn’t dare! Hunter comes back before I can reply. He’s brought champagne and three wine glasses.

“When did you arrive, dad?” He asks as he opens the bottle. It makes a loud sound and they laugh.

“Just this morning.” Mr. Harrison replies as Hunter pours him a glass of Chador. “The flight was quicker than I expected and there were a lot of young hostesses. You would have been interested if not for your delectable girl here.” He smiles at me, enjoying his personal humor. Hunter smiles at me too. If only he knew. I force a smile and wonder where Mrs. Harrison is.

“I’m sure I would have been.” Hunter says. “But I’m satisfied with Nadine. She’s everything.” I flush scarlet. Aw, Hunter’s so sweet! His dad snorts and I glare at him. Hunter pours me a drink and I take it. It tastes wonderful and I down it all at once.

“Where’s Damien?” He asks Hunter. “Oh, he went out with a girl. Nadine’s sister, actually. Her name’s Michelle. She’s lovely.” His dad frowns. Does he think Michelle isn’t lovely?

“He did?” He asks again and Hunter nods. Mr. Harrison seems surprised and I can feel that something is amiss. Mr. Harrison looks at Hunter and me.

“Well, I’ll leave you two alone.” He winks at Hunter and smirks at me and then leaves. I sigh and Hunter puts his arm around me.

“Come, let me show you my room.” He grins and his grin is so infectious, that I start grinning too, forgetting about his damn father.

It’s late and I’m sure Aunt Lucie would be home by now. I’m on my way home but I’m stuck in traffic. I really had a nice time in Hunter’s room. We chatted, watched some of his DVDs, and went through some of his magazines and also his photo album. Even as a child, Hunter was very handsome. I noticed that the whole family was present at the beginning of the album but later the mother wasn’t there. Hunter didn’t talk about her. I guess she must have left them. We just flipped through and laughed at funny pictures. Thankfully, his father wasn’t around to disturb me anymore. I wonder whether I should tell Hunter about his father and me or not visit the past at all. Hunter is unpredictable and I don’t know how he’d react.I press my horn again. I’ve been stuck in this spot for ten minutes now. Someone brushes up my convertible hitting the side mirror slightly.
