1791: happy birthday to our little jeongguk, who's actually not so little anymore. he grows up too quickly! but in this story, he'll always remain younger than 18. this added part is my way of thanks for so many reads and votes! enjoy the cheesiness~
"Ha, dul, set—Saengil chukhahamnida, Jeongguki!" The five boys yelled in perfect sync the exact moment the clock struck midnight, bringing a grin to their maknae's face.
They then begin to sing the birthday song as Seokjin made an entrance, the cake in his hands. It wasn't anything fancy; all it was was a simple choco-vanilla flavoured cake with two candles resembling the number 17.
Jeongguk himself had said before that he preferred this rather than the ones that had complex designs and such. He's that chill, laid back guy who is all right with a crumpled piece of paper as a birthday gift or even a just a greeting.
"I made it myself," Seokjin said proudly after setting the cake down in front of the younger. "Now go make your wish, Gguk."
They were perfectly quiet for the fifteen seconds it took for Jeongguk to think of what he wanted to wish for and immediately started cheering once he blew out the tiny flames.
The maknae felt happy and loved.
"Ahh, Jeongguk," Yoongi threw an arm around his shoulders, poking his chest. "Look at you. Only a year to go and the journey to aging is already going to start. You'll be so fucking old before you know it!"
Seokjin slapped the back of his neck for his explicit language and horrible message, to which the raven-haired boy laughed at whilst Yoongi defended himself, saying that those were the facts.
Meanwhile, Taehyung was already gobbling up a part of the cake with no permission nor warning nor his own plate whatsoever, resulting in little brown crumbs being all over the corners of his mouth and on his chin. He even dared to make noise while he chewed, annoying the hell out of Namjoon and receiving a strong kick on his ankle that almost made him fall over. Jimin was posting a video of the singing to his Instagram and Hoseok sat on the countertop of the island, swinging his legs.
"Since it's your day and you really haven't been hinting to me anything you want, I am giving you the permission to order me to do whatever you want me to do for you ... as long as I can do it, of course," Seokjin chuckled and ruffled Jeongguk's hair. "But if you don't want that, you may also request a material thing that isn't too expensive, so that when the shops open, I can go out to buy that thing for you. Is that okay?"
Jeongguk knew better than to refuse this offer since Seokjin would just keep on insisting until he gave in anyway, but what could his hyung give? He seriously had no clue. The now 17 year-old boy looked around the dorm for something that would remind him of a thing he might want, but instead his mind remained blank. Then he noticed Hoseok's eyes light up, which only meant he had a potentially mischevious idea. The older jumps off the island to whisper in his ear.
"But hyung, that's so mean!" Jeongguk huffed.
"Come on! It will be funny! We weren't able to appreciate it last time because we were tired! Pretty please? Have some heart!" Hoseok jutted out his bottom lip in the form of a pout. He had activated a move, which was his so-called 'desperate aegyo', a technique that was perfect for whenever he wanted something. (He mostly uses it on Namjoon.)
"Well ..." Jeongguk thought about it for a brief moment. "I guess it can't be that bad," he sighed. "We won't make him leave the dorm anyhow." Hoseok fist pumped the air at the desired response while Seokjin was standing there, more confused than ever. "Erm, I assume you have decided?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Listen up everybody!" Hoseok clapped his hands together to get the others' attention. "This is going to be great, I assure you!"
The birthday boy cleared his throat, putting on a serious expression. "Correct, Jin-hyung. I have decided to make you do something simple that Hoseok-hyung suggested." Seokjin doesn't understand why he suddenly feels uneasy, but he nods. "Yes, what is it?"
Jeongguk doesn't answer right away for suspense's sake. then Yoongi, the most impatient out of them all, spoke up after at least two seconds of silence. "For fuck's sake, Jeongguk-ah! What will you make hyung do?!" Seokjin is too curious to give this dongsaeng another hit, so he stays where he is.
"Jin-hyung is going to wear those clothes a second time!"
Namjoon immediately bursts out laughing at the statement, especially at Seokjin's golden expression—eyes wide and mouth hanging open. The clothes actually belonged to the tallest boy's ex-girlfriend, who had left them behind after the one time she slept over, and they just happened to fit the brunet better than expected.
"So you want me humiliated for your birthday?!" Seokjin shrieked. It scared Jeongguk at first until Jimin came to his defense. "You can't protest, hyung! You're the one who gave him the permission! No back talk!"
The elder grumbled bitterly as he followed Namjoon out of the dining area.
"You're so mean, hyung," said the maknae as he nudged Hoseok, receiving a playful wink in return. Jimin readied his phone's camera while Taehyung continued to snack and Yoongi decided to text. It took almost half an hour for the other two to return because apparently, Seokjin was acting like a child who refused to try on the new dress her mother had gotten for her.
To make things worse on the brunet's part, Namjoon had the audacity to play oh-so appropriate background music on his speaker while Seokjin very stiffly approached Jeongguk all dressed up in that dumb outfit he thought he'd never see again.
"I love this song!" exclaimed Taehyung with a mouthful of cake. "All that I have is all that you give me!" He sang loudly, probably not aware that he might choke, with Yoongi snorting at how stupid he looked right now. Jimin started giggling at the scene and couldn't even take a video properly because his hands were shaking so much and Hoseok seemed to have been possessed since he was already on the floor, laughing so hard that he might cry. Seokjin's cheeks and ears burned with so much embarrassment.
"There," he hissed, clenching his fists. "Are you happy?!"
"Don't be like that, Jin-hyung," said Jeongguk with a little chuckle. "I never really told you straight-up but you're actually ... really pretty like this," he continued softly. He, too, was blushing. Seokjin blinked, suddenly becoming very insecure about himself. He shyly crosses his arms over his exposed stomach in a poor attempt to cover it up.
"I am?"
The maknae stood on his tiptoes to gently bump their foreheads together. "The prettiest hyung of them all," he whispered. Seokjin's heart thumped wildly in his chest. he wasn't able to stop himself before he did it.
He had kissed him.
Everyone was caught off-guard, including Jeongguk himself. Taehyung's mouth was ajar, Yoongi was the one who actually ended up choking (on his own spit), Namjoon nearly dropped his phone, Jimin took multiple pictures, and Hoseok squealed in the highest pitch he could—from the floor.
The older started a string of apologies after pulling away until Jeongguk had to shush him. "Hyung, calm down! Calm down, okay? You don't have to apologize!"
"Sorry, sorry," Seokjin sighed, shaking his head. "I just thought you'd react violently."
Jeongguk showed him his bunny-like grin. "That's okay, hyung. It was my wish anyway. Why should one be against his own birthday wish?"
